Nice one - cheers

Those maxwell discs suck, get a nero quality rating of Zero, compared with 96% for verbs with the same burner.. The maxwell discs use Ritek F1 Dye and its awful for long term storage, degrades badly over the space of 12 to 18 months.. I'd pay slightly more and get some Azo Verbatims if i were you..

Got a pack of these (Maxwell) disks last year and used a few then for data storage (photos, avi's). Still work fine and no signs of 'degrading'. That's about 14months ago. Been using these disks on and off since and haven't really hard any problems with them.

Keep in mind if they are the same as the pic, they have a completely (dark) blue surface, making writing on them very difficult. You have to look closely to be able to read anything, but never had a failed disc at least.

Test them with Nero and look at the number of errors it reports, once that level starts getting above the error correction level the drive can take you will start getting data corruption.. Reviews of the Ritek F1 dye are all over the net and most of them agree that disks made with this dye tend to suck.

As for using them for avi and photo use these files will tolerate a lot of degradation before it becomes noticable, but you will start getting cyclic redundancy errors after a while..

Slightly more expensive to get the verbs (£4 for 25, £8 for 50 packs) at £16 for 100, but well worth the extra £3 to get quality MCC discs over ritek junk.

100 Disc spindles at play

There you go you can choose whichever discs make you happy :) I've always found play to be the cheapest with DVD media as they don't charge delivery. Most sites will charge £5.95 as they are quite substantial in size to deliver.

I would rather stick to high quality brands such as Verbatim, I just got 100 verbs on ebay for £20 probably not worth it for the sake of 7£.... Hot but wouldent buy them myself

A good guide to blank DVD media quality:
http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
TDK = First class media , excellent disks
Maxell = Second Class Media, OK discs
The last cakebox of Maxells I bought from Play were made by CMG Magnetics.

That is for TDK dyes. TDK don't just manufacture there own discs they outsource too, including CMC. look at the "Branding Guide" on digital faq - TDK branded discs can be any of the following dyes:

TDK, CMC, Moser Baer, Philips, Taiyo Yuden, Ritek, Ricoh, Maxell

If you get TDK or TY then you are in luck, even maxell dye are quality. Ritek or CMC I wouldn't touch and if you are really unlucky you'll end up with the MBIs.

BTW Maxell are listed as first class media on digitalfaq, no 2nd class.

Verbs are currently £16 per 100 in poundstretcher/instore if you have one local - £4 saved if you have one close enough. =]
