Hang on, I think 'Media Included Qty: 100' must be a misprint - I can't see BOGOF anywhere.

Does anyone know whether it is better to go for the TDK or the Maxell? The Maxell -R discs seem to have got quite a number of poor reviews on Plays site...
Thanks

I would definately go for the TDK mate.
The Maxell are Ritek dye which imo aren't the best.

Avoid TDk disks they have a short shelf life and are basically **** use verbatim ,TY or good ritek g05 disks if you think TDK are good you seriously dont know what you are talking about .I pay £8 for 50 white or silver full face printable dvd-r so the price is so-so.

My apologies on the number of disks you get 100 in this deal so the price point is ok, the disks are still *****
#12
Thanks for your replies! Scousethief would you be able to tell us where we can get Verbatim/TY/Ritek discs for £8 delivered? I have heard they are the best quality but I had imagined they would be more expensive than this!
#13
I wouldn't buy any discs unless I knew what dye they were!

Lol
Ritek G05 are NOT good, some batches are ok and some are terrible.
I suspect you don't know what you are talking about. ;-)
No one is saying that TDK are the best, this post isn't about which is best.

Of course Verbs and Taiyo Yuden are the best but were can you buy 50 printables for £8 delivered ??? Please do share this fantastic deal with the rest of us who don't know what we're talking about.

It says here that TDK are good discs but i guess they don't know what they're talking about either

TY and Verb are some of the best of course but a choice between any reject TDK disks and Ritek G05 disks : only a fool picks TDK do a search on the web, you know google , dont take a shops word for it go to a forum and ask someone who actually uses them.
#16
So you play down TDK whilst commending Bulkpaq discs? HaHaHa
I have ordered the +R variety at the same price, as they will be handy for my DVD Recorder, and +Rs are needed if you want the extra menu options like custom index pics.
#17
Everytime, im sure youll enjoy your coasters.

And theyre not Bulkpaq thats just a generic they are many brands they dont change the website for every brand of disk, like i said local supplier.

You have just confirmed that you are talking utter rubbish.........." only a fool" buys Bulkpaq.

I've been buying disks for years and find your knowledge and opinions laughable.
Go and read the info on the link i provided (its not a shop....READ) http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

I'm a member of http://club.cdfreaks.com/ i suggest you join mate and learn a bit more before you come on here calling people "fools" and suggesting that anyone that doesn't share your opinion doesn't know what they're talking about.

No one is ever going to convince me that Bulkpaq are better than TDK

then stop arguing and buy the disks, youve said your thoughts and so have i.

I use these exact same discs at work (National Geographic) and we send out hundreds a week. They print well and we have no problems with many failing. We do have our burners set to 8x though as it reduces the failure rate.

My trusty assistant is churning them out by the dozen as I write... These are all TDKs

This isnt even that good of a price TBH. I think I paid like £5.50 for 50 good brand discs last time I bought some from one of the discount office places.

I have 50 bulkpaq discs that make lovely coasters right here. Wanna buy some cheap. I'll sell you them at £8 gladly :-D

Bear in mind that this includes p+p. SVP's p+p is what stops me buying 50 at a time from them. I have to wait for a 99p shipping offer to roll around, and that is a nuisence when you need discs now.
£7.99 delivered is good imo.
#24
So what's the best price on verbatim DVD-R's at the moment? The cheapest I've seen is 100 for £17.99 at play.com. I know staples had an offer on these a few months ago but have stopped doing it. :(
#25
Rymans are currently offering a buy one, get one free on 25 Verbatim 16x DVD-R and +. £10.99 in-store (which is on a par with Bigpockets/SVP when you include postage and that's on poorer quality bulkpak).

Incidentally, I just burned an ISO at 20x on one of these Verbatim 16x discs and had no problems at all, so seem fine for overburning. I'm no expert at this topic though, so I could be stating something which is already common knowledge :)

It varies. FWIW I've never had much luck with TDK labelled disks, and wouldn't buy them again.
#28
Don't forget folks, you get what you pay for. If you have important media that you want to be able to view again in the future...e.g Photos and family videos, weddings etc etc then suggest you invest in the media that has the longest 'storage' life and as you will find (if you research) that is disks that use the Taiyo Yuden dyes.
I know that i would prefer to pay the extra and know that i will still be able to read the media in 10 or 15 years time.
BTW, i've personally never had any 'issues' with TDK media and never burn my stuff faster than 8 x speed.
#29
Over the last few months I have burnt nearly 300 of these disks (TDK DVD-R Extra Fine Matt Printable ) without any problems. I burn all my disks at 8x and not 16x as I found in the past with other dvd's that occasionally even though they had verified and played on my PC the odd one didn't play in my dvd player.

Agree on the Taiyo Yudens. TY02 unbranded FF printable, Singapore stock, every time :)
If you are happy with single layer discs, they beat the hell outta Verb DL discs on value.

Where exactly do you get these?

i havent found a source that consistently sells guranteed TY discs

Can I ask what maybe to some a silly question? With these Discs is there no TDK printing on them i.e. are they totally blank so you can print what you like on them?

Yep, they are the ones. A class apart.
I've found them to be better than the TYG03 ones. Never a coaster, not one.
