(To be fair that is funny and in a scary coincidence the dude with the big machine gun looks just like I guy I work with....I shall be wandering past his desk today making machine gun noises to see how he reacts!!)

Insane price! Even better than the recent Left 4 Dead offer! Brilliant game, many hours of my life have been spent/wasted on this!

Buy buy buy! :w00t::-D:thumbsup::):gift:

Super Hot! I play this game nearly every night, it's very addictive especially trying to get all the achievements.

What kind of a pc you need to run it?

Minimum: 1.7 GHz Processor, 512MB RAM, DirectX® 8 level Graphics Card, Windows® Vista/XP/2000, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection

Recommended: Pentium 4 processor (3.0GHz, or better), 1GB RAM, DirectX® 9 level Graphics Card, Windows® Vista/XP/2000, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection

I use a P4 3.2Ghz, 2GB Ram and a HD2600XT and run it in 1650x1080 on high settings :)

I run an AMD athlon 64 at 2860mhz and have got 2gb of ram. Graphics card is an OC'd 7600GT. Would I be able to run the game smoothly?

This game can run on a lot of lower spec comps .

Lol that picture is priceless, some guy has actually made the effort to build a flame thrower! Good game, but will only keep you entertained for a few weeks as it is fairly repetitive. At £6.99 it's a bargain.
#12
Heat added as that's a great discount. However be aware that the Orange Box is still only £16.99 on Steam. So for an extra tenner that gives you:

- Half-Life 2
- Half-Life 2: Episode One
- Half-Life 2: Episode Two
- Half-Life 2: Lost Coast
- Portal
- Team Fortress 2
#13
Good price, but part of me says that with the current prices of the Orange Box that getting Team Fortress 2 on its own might be false economy if might get anything else in the Orange Box.

The Orange Box PC version appears to be £14.99 just about everywhere these days and with that you get Team Fortress 2 plus Half Life 2, Half Life 2 Episode 1, Half Life 2 Episode 2 and the sublime Portal (which is a "must play"). For the extra 8 pounds it might be worth going for that instead if you don't already own the HL2 series or Portal. There's no disadvantage in using the retail disk versions over the Steam versions - in fact, you can use the CD key to just unlock the games in Steam and ignore the disks, which makes the £16.99 online Steam price over-the-odds.
#14
Portal might be worth it (I dont know how much this goes for on its own) but the HL2 expansions are not worth much. way too short and nothing new. TF2 is a fantastic game, amazing deal!

Well, you also get HL2 as well as the expansions, so it's a complete HL2 set. HL2 on its own is worth something, it's still a cracker of a game and a good plot, and the expansions are fun to play through and add a good few hours gaming - worth something. Portal is £13.99 on Steam and seems to range between £13-£15 retail - good lord, is all I can say - so basically if you were thinking of buying Portal for pity's sake don't, get the Orange Box instead.

Thanks very much, djmilesno1! Buying it.

Will TF2 run on a laptop (Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li 2727) with "Onboard graphic power with Intel Graphic Media Accelerator X3100 with up to 358 MB shared memory"

I know CS:S is very dodgy with onboard graphics, but an incompatibility between TF2 & onboard gfx isn't mentioned on the specs on Steam as it is for CS:S..
#24
Regarding buying the Orange box - that's not a bad idea. This is considering if you already have any of the games on the orange box you can always obtain the extra games as gift vouchers and give it to friends, sell it or whatnot. You only need someone else's email to sell the extra games on as gifts.

I can't say for certain, but I suspect it's not going to be terribly impressive on that chipset. http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html gives some benchmarks for mobile chipsets and gives "red-yellow-green" for particular games at http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards.13849.0.html -the X3100 is red for almost everything.

It will probably run TF2 at the lowest possible settings, but I suspect it will still not be at a playable framerate. Bear in mind that TF2 and CS:S are both using the Source engine (albeit a more recent version for TF2), so if a card isn't suitable for CS:S it's unlikely to be any better on TF2.

I don't see why people moan about the client.

You download it. It stores all the games you ever download on there, updates automatically. What could be simpler?

I used to hate the 'Annoying steam client' but it really has improved since it was released. It runs much smoother and is more informative. Its nothing like the annoying punkbuster client..another story!

Give steam another chance, im sure you wont regret it :)

Quality game. Still playing it a year after i bought it. Valve cant be faulted for their excellent support with the free class specific updates. They really add extra life to the game.

Heat added, been after this at the right price for ages :D Cheers!

Ditto. Steam is excellent. Especially now that they've got "cloud"

http://store.steampowered.com/news/1968/

I never used Steam when it was "bad", I've always felt that Steam was great :)

this sounds like a good price although i am tempted by the orange box ...

If anyone is wondering if they can run it, try
http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest

Scans your system and tells you what parts of your pc pass and which fail. Very helpful with a large list of games.

.. by the way although it says "referrer" that's not a referral link. However if you are in any doubt go to
http://www.systemrequirementlabs.com and choose "Can you run it"

I love Left 4 Dead and tried CS:S the other day was not keen - played the old CS at uni from the summer of 99 till 2002, loved it but just could not get into the new version of the game again, I am a BF2 person. Got TF2 tonight kind of liked it (did not like the first one much) anyone suggest a good server? I am in the Hot Uk Deals Steam Group if anyone is on there and wants to add me and show me some good servers.

I thought TF2 was severely over-rated personally and cetainly not better than L4D.

At this price though nobody has an excuse not to make their own opinion.
