Most of the budget brands e.g. low-priced LG and JVC sets, etc. have the same components in them - and are assembled in the same factory as less popular brands.

I've had a 39" technika for a while now and I swear by the fact I'd take it over my parents Samsung any day. I don't know why but the colour seems so much more accurate but also has the ability to be more lively when both have contrast and colour notched up. The downsides of these TV's is the backlight can seem blotchy on plain black frames in images or videos and that the ports are placed so stupidly (had to bend my hdmi ports to fit any cable).

We have two of them upstairs in the bedrooms (and a Toshiba in our living room). They both play DVDs and we have had them for several years now and they haven't gone faulty once.

managed to order yesterday for delivery to my local store on 29th. would have been good to get the white as it would have kept the other half happier

£149 is not the cheapest TV online.
