Technika 26" HD Ready LCD TV - £179.00 in-store only @ Tesco

MarkerMarker

This is my first deal posting and I apologise if I don't have all of the facts, but it seems like a cracking price for a 26" LCD TV. I was in my local Tesco (Aylesbury) today and they had their Technika 26" LCD TV on sale for just over £179 -- originally £249, then reduced to £239, and now to this price. I don't recall the model number but it is probably this one (LCD26-209) and not the more expensive model LCD26-M3. I have included a link to the Tesco Direct product which is shown at £239.97.

Pricing label was their standard yellow sale label so I assume it's not just a "one store only" deal.

I'm a bit dubious of Technika compared to name-brand TVs as I think it is Tesco's cheap-and-cheerful own brand but I'm sure I'll be corrected by plenty of happy Technika TV owners. At this price it's hard to turn down such a deal if you're in the market for a TV for the bedroom or gaming!

Thats a good deal, they are coming down in price loads. What ever happened to the 14" black and white portable tvs we had in our bed rooms???????

Still got one up in the loft. It was the first TV my wife was ever bought when she was a kid, so "for sentimental reasons" she refuses to chuck it out even though it will probably never get used again.

Mind you, it's a Sony and still works after 25+ years. Maybe I can sell it on eBay as an antique...

im thinking of getting a tv for my room, currently have a 22" CRT style TV (bought it for £20 off a mate and done well for 2 years!) Is it worth getting something like this or spending more for 32" or going all hog and getting full HD? I will mainly be playin my Xbox on it and dont have sky or anything, but I do have a freeview box.

Ive still got the little b&w Mitsubishi portable I got in 1978 as an xmas pressie, use it with an old Nokia freeview box to keep an eye on SSN or BBC News 24 when Im working in my office. Perfectly adequate for the job intended, and has given me over 30 years solid service.

Just wait until next year when Panasonic release their 1080p 3D TVs and everyone realises they are going to have to upgrade their big 1080p TVs which they'd banked on lasting 5 years or so! 720p is fine for the moment unless you need a screen over 42".

a friend has got the 32in model and is really pleased with it. picture quality is excellent:thumbsup:

Wow, that's a good find. I'll give you some heat for that. Back on to the TV, I had a look at one of them last week and thought they looked a good deal for £240, so at around £180, even better! I would like to get one for my bedroom, but I'm worried that a 26 inch TV might be a big too weighty to put on top of my pine chest drawers. Does anyone else do this in their bedrooms? (I don't fancy wall mounting either.......)

I don't have this one but got one of the sainburys 26" ones posted on here recently.
They are not heavy and will easily stand ok on a set of draws. Mine's stood on a MFI chipboard set of draws so pine draws will easily handle it
