Voted Hot - Good Price.
I'm considering upgrading to a full hd model and bigger than my existing 32".
Though wonder what will be in the Richer Sounds sale this year.

Technika = (the Lada of electronics world)

Spend the same or a little more and by something DECENT, ie

SONY
TOSHIBA
LG
SAMSUNG
PHILIPS
etc

DONT waste your money on this

Buy something like this

1080p which this TV is..... but this price range is getting in the territory of top name brands full HD TV's.
My 1080p 40" Sammy only cost 20 quid more than this.

Cold from me.

this is a great tv with the exception of one big problem. When the picture is dark when watching letterboxed films, light can be seen bleeding into the screen from the corners and its very distracting. Ive read other eviews elsewhere from people having the same problem so be cautious? apparently toshiba dont see it as a problem!?? weird...in 185 ratio you cant see it..just in 2.35 letterloxed films. other wise this is good, though the soundcould do with improving a little.

I see you found the one bad quote, this is how LCD tvs are lit with a back light if you want no back light by a Plasma.

Anyway the Technika is no match for the TOSHIBA

LADA vs PORSCHE

It's not just about the panel though. It's the chipsets in the back that will have to upscale all your 480/576 TV and DVD into 1080p. that's why you pay more for a good branded TV.

I'd rather pay for for a good quality 720p Plasma than a cheap and nasty 1080p LCD.

I have the 42" Ultra thin version (60mm thick) version of this I brought earlier in the year for £400 from Tesco instore.

Compared many TV's by looking at the picture instead of the badge; this was a better picture than most!!

Never had a problem with it at all; good upscaling for builtin freeview and a good selection of sockets and connections. I now have Sky and the picture is excellent, also have a PS3 and Xbox360 connected and games runing at 720p look really good as do Blu-rays.

How can people comment on a TV they probably have never seen; for me the way to tell a decent TV is in the picture displayed, not the little badge underneth.

Most LCD are made in the same factory anyway, just using different exterior parts. The menus system on mine is the same as used in many other brands of TV, panel is probably the same too....

you cant judge tv pictures from a tesco instore feed! :w00t:

You may think your picture is great but have you really seen a good one playing blu-ray.

Yes thankyou, have you seen a technika playing a Blu-ray??

In the Tesco's I brought mine from they had a PS3 connected playing a Blu-ray; I even asked to check the setting on the TV to check it was play in 1080P. Next to it they had an LG and Samsung so I asked to have a look at them playing the same PS3. They swopped the HDMI lead over to the other Tv's and to me the Technika has the best picture.

Whilst I know there are numerous settings for TV's to me even after playing about with the settings in the shop I still could not get the picture as good as the Technika. I also have various friends with more expensive TV's and I still think mine has a good picture, especially in comparison with the price.

Yea to be honest I think it's really unfair that you're all judging a TV you've never seen based on the brand name.

My girlfriend bought this TV yesterday and plugged in to her PC (only through VGA, haven't tried plugging it into my HDMI HTPC yet) and the picture blew me away with 720p stuff. I have a 32" Samsung 720p which I've had for about 4 years and always been really impressed with and this was streets ahead, I'm really excited about trying my PC plugged into it with 1080p stuff.

The only thing is through vga it only accepts 1920x1200 not 1920x1080, so I wasn't sure if the AR was out slightly or if it was just leaving bigger black bars at the top and bottom. But that wont be an issue over HDMI.

I think slagging it off on the brand name alone is ridiculous, you have no idea what components are inside it.
