Beware that all high definition recordings are encrypted when exported to USB or the network. This is a bug, because most HD broadcasts aren't DRM-protected.
Although the blog states its a bug i think it a requirement to encrypt.

you can transfer HD recordings from the box to flash drive but they won't play on anything but the same smartbox. iv'e lost count of the amount of DRM removal programs trying to remove the encryption but nothing works.

Freeview is still non existent where I am. and when switch over happens I'm very unsure I'll have anything close to a full compliment of channels so for now I think I'll just have to reluctantly stay with sky.
