I missed this last time. I have one of these but one of the un-sung features is when you hook up these boxes then you can watch a programme in one room, stop and catch up with your recording on the other box

Bought after missing it last night (work does get in the way of shopping!)

Even if its not as great as the spec seems I'll still have a 320gb HD for elsewhere

I have the non hd version and it's been pretty reliable. Has access to iplayer as well and you can transfer recordings to a usb stick or to a computer if you network it. They used to have Sky Player and Fetch Tv but shopto have bought out Fetch. Seems like they may replace Fetch with some other content but looks like sky player won't be coming back.

Does it let you transfer HD recordings or is it encrypted like all the other PVRs

from: http://8320hd.blogspot.co.uk/p/hints-tips.html - brilliant blog even if it is a little outdated for all you need to know.

Beware that all high definition recordings are encrypted when exported to USB or the network. This is a bug, because most HD broadcasts aren't DRM-protected.

Although the blog states its a bug i think it a requirement to encrypt.

Thought this would've got a lot hotter or sold out by now!

Trying to read through the thread about it on avforums but it's around 6000 posts long!!!

I've bought 2, the second lot are almost sold out now too. I tried to read that thread too but think I will need a set aside a week to do so :)

you can transfer HD recordings from the box to flash drive but they won't play on anything but the same smartbox. iv'e lost count of the amount of DRM removal programs trying to remove the encryption but nothing works.

It appears that it's online functionality may be about to disappear:

    Looks great for the money!

Freeview is still non existent where I am. and when switch over happens I'm very unsure I'll have anything close to a full compliment of channels so for now I think I'll just have to reluctantly stay with sky.

Seems brilliant for the price, had my old Humax for quite a few years, fancy more GB and HD.

    Thanks :)

If it does even half of what it's meant to, this should turn out to be worth the money. Thanks for keeping us updated on the stock =)
