Bought one and faulty on arrival. There's a reason these are refurbs.

    No on demand service either

Mine hasn’t been much bother, it works fine but the remote sometimes has a mind of its own and occasionally it responds to my LG tv remote.

does anyone know if you can connect an outside source to these and record to the hard drive ?

Includes a 320GB hard drive with 2 USB ports that let you export and store programmes on an external hard drive

Switched mine on. No response from the box to any remote command. keeps telling me to press >> button when ready.

    I think it's a dud.

Frustrating as I bought it to use in another country. So need to take it back to UK to return it. :(

thanks for the reply, i mean in terms of connecting my sky+ box and recording the programmes off there, as i used to have a panasonic dvd recorder with a 250gb hd which i had hooked up to my sky box via scart, and used to record movies onto the hard drive of the recorder , as a back up

Seems like a decent case for modding

Got one - works great. :-)
Can't record from remote source - only the internal free view HD tuner.
Really pleased with mine - particularly the iplayer functionality and ability to view and export SD recordings over your local network.

Hope this may help you.... I had issues ( they're tuned to Welsh stations as they're refurbished in Swansea). Mine was going nowhere until I did this... Go To:

    MENU .> PREFERENCES > TUNING -IN > .

It then tells you to Press the >> button to auto tune, which
DOES NOT work, it just sends you back one step . Instead, I
pressed OK on the handset, and it tuned everything in within 2 minutes.

No. You can only record from its own tuner

Same here I had a message coming up as bad signal which I couldn't understand as I could get a signal with the previous freeview box, fumbled through the menu options until I found the tuning in option and bingo all up and running once stations found.

Also Scapels try a different set of batteries in the remote as someone on one of the other threads mentioned that theirs had come with duff batteries once they were replaced all was well.

Hot. Don't know whether to ditch Virgin Media and go for this. Any way to sign up for ESPN on Freeview?

Yeah you haver to ask yourself why theres been 3000 refurbs of this in the last month.

    Specs look great tho

I now have 2 of these now paired, so I can watch recordings made on one, the master on the other, the secondary (via wifi / local net). Brilliant bit of kit for £50. I have also used the media player functionality and that has worked with all the media file types I have thrown at it so far. And it has a Web browser functionality.. which is okay - but nothing fancy.

See the AVForums for more info .

    http://www.avforums.com/forums/pvrs-vcrs/1529696-fetch-tv-hd-pvr-tesco-04-06-2010-part-seven-17.html

(this is part 7 .. there are 6 other parts )

There are some bits that are bit clunky and that do with some tweaking ( I am used to the Topfield PVR boxes - and they are very highly configurable / mod-able). £50 for twin tuner / 320GB PVR and media player that you can pair with another unit via local net / WiFi you cant go far wrong imo.

This blog will help answer most questions about the unit - for £50 notes it is a great piece of equipment and the iplayer is a great addition over standard freeview+ boxes - http://8320hd.blogspot.co.uk/

HI, had this delivered other day, great piece of kit, i have in bedroom, menus easy and fast, hd picture great so far so good.

However, i am probably being really stupid but how (or is it even possible) do i use the remote to control volume on my samsung tv. The volume button currently does nothing so i have to use 2 remotes. On my old freeview recorder i was able to pair the remote so it controlled the tv.

    Any advice welcome

    Thanks

Mine didn't look like it was a refurb, completely new and sealed inside.

My guess is that Tesco had a stack of these unsold and which couldn't be sold in its current packaging given the demise of Fetch TV and, along with it, the Sky service.

Bought one two weeks ago...........very good piece of kit and comes with every lead you need ....box looks worn but everything in it looks brand new. RETUNE BEFORE YOU THINK ITS FAULTY!
