Technika BRSS10 - Blu Ray Player - £49.97 *Delivered To Store* @ Tesco Direct
This was on HUKD a couple of months back, but the price went up and it has come back down again. Instore they were showing "was £79.97".
Back to £49.97 now both instore and Tesco Direct. Granted it is not a named brand, however this can be hacked to region free DVD and you can also change the Blu-Ray region. It also has a USB port and reports suggest it can handle .mkv files and .avi
Thought it was worth a punt, sub £50 region free blu-ray, and if its no good, Tesco's return policy is pretty liberal.
EDIT: Thanks to stuart9787 who has pointed out this can be had for £40 odd quid. Tesco Direct have a £10 off £50 spend code. Add this Blu-Ray player and something cheap to your basket and use code TDX-KG4T to take £10 off.

Yes it does but like a lot of players it only supports fat32
The good thing about this player is that it's hackable easily for multi-region blu-ray though you have to change the region with the remote manually every time you want to change regions

That is a fair comment, however most of the recent branded cheap BluRay players have been store specific meaning they are rare as rocking horse sh*t! The Makro LG deal is good but again not widely available as you need to havea local makro and access to a makro card.
This is widely available, has some neat features for the price, and like I said, if it turns out to be junk, Tesco's return policy on electricals is very good!

which takes total to £51.84 but then use voucher code TDX-KG4T (£10 off when you spend £50 on Direct) which brings total down to £41.84 - tried myself and works. If the item above is no use to you just find something else cheap you would use that takes price over £50 and then apply code to get £10 off.
Hope it helps.

It can play nearly all video files, even manages mkv's (but not without it's disadvantages) some mkv's play fine, but depending on the codec originally used in the mkv depends on wether it will play.
I've downloaded a few mkv's some play flawless and some just don't like the video codec and doesn't display video files.
But I am due to take mine back to tesco, just purely on the basis that it doesn't connect to it's main server to download firmware upgrades, always gives error codes, (probably because the server isn't supporting the player, is offline, or they have given up support all together.
The menu system is easy and fast, discs load up suprisingly fast and plays bluray's fine. The upscaling is decent, I haven't had any bad comments on how blurays look on it as they look as good as a sony bdp, or a phillips. The better your tv is as well always help, but even on my spare beko 32" hdtv it looks great. On my 42" lg however picture is outstanding.
So worth a punt, but be warned about the firmware updates/support for player. I think i'm going to have a exchange for a lg or something like that.
Hope this helps some of you.
