Im sure its good, dirt cheap price for a dab radio. voted hot
#2
great price for a DAB radio. Why do they always look so retro though?!
#3
I've added a price and retailer name to the thread title.
#4
I read that DAB might be abandoned in the future as not enough people are interested. Digital only stations going belly up every day.

Still a decent price if you want one though.
#5
Its a mono radio.

I think DAB is great....get to listen to Virgin in the sticks....hot from me, at this price maybe more adopters.
#10

would make a good kitchen or bedside dab.

not sure it should be advertised as portable when its mains powered though:roll:

i heard that scaremonger story as well......they would have to refund everyone who has bought these dead duck radios though.....7 million
prob is that unlike tv there are no plans for an anlogue to digital switch over becuase not everyone can get dab and there are alot of fm fans out there
im not surprised though...lets face most dab radios seemed to have been designed by geeks.....eg not very contempory in design.....they are also outragously overpriced

Hi all iam new hope iam doing this correctly!
I like to use the sleep button on a radio giving 59 min before it auto switches off ( usually go to sleep this way )

Don't think this is correct. This place http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=602762 is full of geeks and there's no mention of it here

I'd like to see why you think they would have to refund all people who bought the radios royals!!!!
#16
DAB+ will be the new standard in around 2 years time, mean stations can have better quality streams at lower bitrates as it uses the HE-AAC codec. So standard DAB will be useless, but there are new DAB radio's coming out later in the year which will be firmware upgradeable for DAB+.

It is 100% correct in that people in the industry are speculating it's demise. They could be wrong though, it is only an opinion nothing official.

They would not have to refund anyone and the BBC would continue to plough money in to it - just a lot of the commercial stations are finding it hard going.
#21
It might be expired online, but I just saw one in my local Tescos at this price, so might be worth a look.
#22

So the £15 radio above will be obsolete in 7-8 years time.

Big whoop.
#23
I hate Technika brand but good price added some heat.
#24
It's true that DAB is generally heading downhill. It's very expensive for radio stations to use and many people have reported better results for the same station through FM. Reduced bit rates make matters worse.

Recently bought a Sony DAB radio, sound was on par with FM but certainly no better.

Are DAB radios overpriced? Without a doubt yes and too hyped also considering the drop of bit rates.

And the price and the picture, as well as the title.

It's a radio you know. Oops, I'm turning native and saying the bleedin obvious..

I stand corrected. Thanks for that Tony. But I've had my dab a few years and another few will keep me happy. If I can get one of these in store I'll be just as happy.

I think the moral is : if you want a DAB radio now, don't buy an expensive one (like the Bose DAB add-on to their radio)

cheeky sod....mind you barns in the sticks is even better:whistling: oh, and they aren't all geeky...Roberts stuff is very retro...and have a Goodmans Dab hifi which is great
#31
This is okay for the price but buyers should be aware that there is no scrolling text on the DAB setting which is a shame as it's quite useful.
#32
Now £19.97... Shame I didn't see this when it was posted!
