i'd honestly rather buy technika than goodmans, never had an issue with tesco and/or its warranty...

each to their own, the goodmans scored 4 stars on what hifi based on it costing at the time £149.99

As good as new, well that's not saying much. I had two of these new and sent them both back. I'm guessing that others did too and that's why they are selling refurbished boxes.

It's upsetting how Freeview is pushed and subsidised by our Government (and EU), and Freesat is discrimated against because of Rupert Murdoch's Sky.

the problem with freesat is that because they can't control where exactly it's received, some channels will not be unencrypted on freesat. for example Dave - free on Freeview, not FreeSat. imho Freeview is a better service if you can get it (the power will go up a lot when changeover is complete so almost everyone should be able to get it.).

I haven't tried freeview HD though, what's the compression like?

The quality of this box seems on par with sky HD box decoding BBC HD and ITV HD (I have both) on my LE40F86. Sky box does brighter colours, whilst the technika box seems a little duller when I fiddle the settings to get a realistic picture. Whilst receiving good signal both delivery methods seem very sharp and defined (watching tennis you can see the netting and the court lines are nicely defined).

I haven't been able to test sound yet. My amp accepts on dts/DD5.1 and stereo over the optical spdif, but I have that linked to my TV that doesn't do pass through (2ch pcm) and don't feel like constantly switching sources.
