pointless without a PVR

Well they have sold over 400 so it would seem most people disagree with your rather odd view

Great cheap deal for budget HD, thanks for posting :D

How come? Not everybody needs or wants to record stuff.

" garbage " would seem highly appropriate.
#4
Usb record would be a good function on these it would cost little to include so everyone would be happy.

Well, you maybe right. For me, the whole Freeview HD hype is pointless. Wished they do a cheap Freesat HD box, so I could at least get some good foreign HD tv channels.

any opinions on the EPG on these? responsiveness? can't stand buggy/slow tv boxes.

some discussion here

reviews at £100 seem to like it so i guess its a good deal!

Very good find O.P. Cheap for a HD box. Hot from me.
#8
Good price, should be extra cheap by the time we get freeview HD in my area.
#9
Avoid these boxes I am on box number 3 and it will be going back soon, lost of video, lost of sound, long pauses between channel changing and the HD channels keep disappearing. The biggest common problem (google it) is that the box will randomly reboot during a program, very annoying. Pity because when it does work it works well, great picture and sound but just too many faults to live with.

Hmmm Technika have a bad reputation, voted hot but stay clear I say.
#11
My father bought one of these last time they were on here, he sent it back last week.
It kept losing the channels and various other things.
#12
There are only 3 HD channels on Freesat and they don't broadcast all the time.

I guess all these refurbs are customer returns, good value if they have sorted the original problems but I doubt it .

I think it's a great price & worth a punt. It's certainly much cheaper than when we bought it a few months back. Yeah, it's a bit temperamental sometimes but "live-able with".

We bought one for the World Cup. Our mistake was relying on the Freeview postcode checker to find out if we'd be able to receive an HD signal. It says we're good for HD Freeview, but seemingly we rely on a relay station for our signal ... so even though the main transmitter is broadcasting in HD, the relay won't "pass it on" until full digital switchover next year. Meantime the box works fine in standard definition.

I'm going to buy another for the bedroom. Cheers OP.

Voted hot for what it is - but I'm holding out for a Freeview HD PVR box to come down in price.

I have a freesat hd box and have to say its good but a lot of it is hype. Not that much better than normal def. I suppose its what you are used to watching. If you switch from a vcr then the difference is well wow but for me its just o.k not superb. And how many channels are in high definition any way. Good price though.
