Glad I missed out on the supposedly buggy Grundig Freesat recorder deal the other day now. The HDFS is very well reviewed as a quality HD receiver which can record to any USB Drive. In the small world of Freesat boxes is generally considered second only to the Humax HDR which was a scorching deal a couple of days back at just under £200, this is £44.

Clearly the capacity will depend on the USB drive added, it is also only single tuner. The picture quality is top notch, the box is stable and the thing is German made with a three year warranty. Looks nice to boot :-)

This is not a " recorder ", it only has the ability to be transformed to a recorder via external USB sources.

So title is incorrect.

So can someone clarify that if I want to record a sky sports programme and watch it at the same time, as long as I have a usb drive, it'll record whatever channel I am watching?

No, because Sky Sports is not available on Freesat

This is about to get VERY hot! I got this from Amazon last year for about £120 and it really is a brilliant Freesat box and the PVR is a bonus. Ok you cant do 2 channels but it is just a bonus. You can also tune in some other HD channels and hidden channels!

Voted VERY hot for me and tempted to get one as a backup if mine ever fails!

dont forget you need a usb stick to record on.

You can also record programmes in advance using the EPG, and the box will come out of standby to record them. There's no series-link function, but you can record something at the same time each week.
