Brilliant price, but the condition is described "as new........" Does this mean it's a return, ex-display or a repaired item ?:thinking:

yes this is sold "as new" so could be any of those.

thats a bargain!

shame ive got a 22" sammy, really want to upgrade though!

I was realy tempted, but the '90 day warranty' puts me off.

I cannot risk £167 on something that if it breaks, I cannot complain after 3 months.

But I still think it's a good deal, just not for me right now.

Sainsbury's sold these leading upto last Christmas, they had loads of returns due to the on-off button failing. Great picture though for a cheap tv.

don`t just don`t 3 month gt waste of money
refurbished = plugged it in for 5 mins worked for that time, samething goes for refurb pvrs

What do you think, with a 90 day warranty? :-(

Bigpockets descriptions have to be the most imaginative in the entire retail business with all these "As New" failed & incorrect deliveries they keep stocking up with!

Who is doing these deliveries -David Blunkett? :whistling:

As with most lcd TVs - if it works then it stays working.
If its got a fault you will usually notice it in the first couple of days ..

The equality/standard of refubished goods depends on the company. Fuji camera refurbs are just like new. Unfortunately bigpockets don't have the greatest of reputations. I would not trust Technosonic if they had refurbished the TVs themselves either as they are just badge engineers ( just stick their badges on cheap generic products).

I've had a few things off Big Pockets (and their sister site Boffer), and have to say their descriptions are VERY hit and miss. Take the 40" tosh I had, some people got one that looked brand new, others didn't. Mine was an ex display (covered in dust still) and had cosmetic damage. Was still listed as grade a as new though. Still kept it as I really like the screen, but it means I'm a lot more wary of their stuff now.

If you think about it methodically, it's actually more expensive buying cheap stuff like this rather than a sony for example, because this enevitably will break. you could probably replace 5 or 6 of these in the time it takes for a decent tv to feck up, which eaquels plus chér.

that'd be quite a downgrade right there ;)

oh no....not another piece of trash being shifted around!

but some people just love throwing their money away! these TV's shouldnt be sold on the market.../internet or anywhere...

i got one of these in the last "bofferthon" at this very same price....now thinking i didnt get a good deal afterall... but i am happy enough with the TV. it has HDMi, built in freeview, twin scart a USB port and a monitor socket to plug the PC into.... so overall i am pleased

I would agree with you if you hadn't used the word Sony in your example!

Sony do nothing to inspire me, especially TVs, and I annoy myself to think I was suckered into believe the hype that surrounds this "wonder brand" :-(

Both me and my partner have had past problems with poor Sony TVs, add that the the exorbitant repair costs when they do go wrong, making them effectively "disposable" and I would not be tempted to buy one ever again, and would think twice about other Sony items too, unless really well priced; although I have had no specific problems with a few Sony Ericsson phones.

Nephew is getting a PS3 for christmas and my mum needed to buy him a TV for xmas, ordered one of these, hopefully it wont commit suicide after 3months and 1day.

Hi all
Does this TV have "built in freeview", Just making sure that it doesn't come with a cheap freeview box thrown in(I know it says it in the OP but I am def thinking of purchasing so want to be 100%). I do need an LCD TV for my bedroom so it doesn't have to be top notch as I have a Samsung 40" as my main TV in my living room and that has done me proud so far.

Any advice would be great!
#17
I still think this is a good deal. I must be biased though, all refurbs i have bought are still going strong. Including my 37" hannspree lcd i picked up for £299 :)
#18
see http://www.bigpockets.co.uk/terms.php

the important but is "As New
Items will be in as new condition, but may have been returned to the Original Manufacturer as a failed or incorrect delivery. These items would then be fully tested and reboxed if needed by the Manufacturer and sold "As New" with the Original Manufacturers full warranty or covered by Bigpockets warranty which will be stated in the product description."

These TVs are being advertised "as new". I accept though the presence of the words "may have been" might cause a little concern of course.

Tempted.

Well in this case, it would be WELL out of the warranty period by then!

I recently bought an "as new" tv from big pockets and the warranty card had already been filled in in 2007 when the tv was bought from Argos.
It has recently broken and big pockets say I have to contact the manufaturer, as it is nothing to do with them now!

I would avoid this retailer.
#22
purchased an aigo media player from this company earlier tis year described as new condition refurb when it arrived items were missing mainly the ac adapter and the player was loaded with the previous owners pics vids and music and was faulty to boot after sales were poor avoid at all costs

Both better referred to Trading standards, as the description "as new" doesn't seem to quite fit here!

So this is what they mean by "failed & incorrect deliveries?"

Hi, I ordered one right at the beginning when this OP was posted and they had well over 20 left in stock(thats what it read anyway), I just got a refund and a out of stock email from big pockets, This is the first time I have used this company & the last!

Got the 32" Technosonic TV from SVP around 3 months ago for just over £200 with 12 month warranty. Picture and sound are great only problem I have is sometimes when you turn over using the numbers it changes the TV channel rather than the freeview channnel therefore losing the picture. Not a massive deal as it's only occasional and I just scroll up and down to change the TV, it's probably something iom doing wrong anyway!
