Is this a genuine Techwood or a cheap imitation. If genuine then superhot.

A 'fake' Techwood? Now I've heard it all!!

This is one of the newer Vestells, but these aren't as good as the old ones.

General rule of thumb, the 48" with 4 HDMI is the one you want (Argos sell it as hitachi, Sainsbury's as Cello). The 49 and 50 are lower spec and missing features - no ARC, the demo 49 in Argos didn't seem to support HDCP 2.2 on both HDMI ports when I played with the menu, which means only one HDMI can take a 4K input, whereas my 48 can have HDCP 2.2 on all 4.

Who the hell are techwood?

I got a Techwood LCD TV a decade ago for the bedroom, and it's now in my daughter's room and used more or less every day. Still works perfectly and has a great picture.

The remote and the buttons are a bit cheap, but it does the job just great.

What makes you think its an old model - this has Freeview Play - which only seems to be on the latest Vestell manufactured TVs

I'd punt on a Hisense over a Techwood anyday

I'd punt on a Hisense over a Techwood anyday

But that's nearly double the price. Why would you choose the hisense?

I'm looking for a half decent 4K tv for a 13yr old for his Xbox one!!

But then people won't be able to complain, so that's no good.

I think people are complaining more about the capabilities of the hdmi more than the number of them.

No model or price was mentioned - it was a straight call over the brands.

Post #20 mentioned the model. But really can't see the benefits of spending the extra cash on the hisense over this. I was just wondering if I was missing something

Now that my plumbers gone, I can focus on this post!

Hisense v Techwood? Hisense. But NOT if it's double the price. But there are lots of branded TVs out there on offer so I'm sure one will pop up soon!

Thanks! Just bought one....Merry Christmas to me! :-P

Sorry I just wrote the wrong thing. Must have had my mind on something else! Either way heat for this is bonkers when it's £199 elsewhere.

Every TV will upscale, you don't need to check.
There may be a question of quality, I'm sure some do it far better than others.

But upscaling HAS TO happen to display a lower resolution picture on your nice HD screen. Otherwise all the normal channels that aren't HD would only take up a quarter of your TV screen and I'd be pretty sure there's no TV's on the consumer market where that'd be the case.

No HDR and motion rate is only 50hz. You're only going to cheap yourself out of a 4k experience by going with this and not the Samsung TV for £330 (from the same retailer) that has both HDR and high motions rates.

Could you recommend a multi adapter? We got one for ours from Amazon and it's rubbish, not really tech savvy so not sure which is best? Thanks
