found this whist looking for a reasonably priced 65" tv. I know it's AO, I know it's only 1080p and I know it's Techwood. But it's still a great price for a 55" smart tv. Read More

For fear of often posting exactly the same thing.

This is a Vestel and if you are going to buy this brand it would seem strange not to fork out about £80 extra for the UHD equivalent model (may be branded Techwood or Digihome or Celcus or Toshiba or Panasonic or JVC or Blaupunkt or...... The list goes on - all Vestel rebadges).

I'd echo this, I recently got the Digihome 55" UHD set from Coop Electrical for £350 delivered and it's a superb set for the money. Unfortunately the voucher code I used (TV35) seems to have expired but even at £379.99 (less if you count cashback), it's IMHO far better value to pay the extra £70 odd for UHD, which it supports on the built in apps and ALL four HDMI inputs, which isn't that common on budget sets (some of the Hisense ones don't do this)...

some people can't afford the extra, hence looking at TVs in this price range. its a decent set, picture is good and sound is actually OK (make sure surround sound is OFF in settings)

True but let's be honest you could make the "people can't afford more" comment on any deal that's any price. It's about weighing up what you get for the price.

Eg Poundland food tubs - half the price of branded ones but seem to last a tenth as long. So affordability and quality/longevity/etc are a consideration.

Personally I think 20% extra for something which has 10-15 year newer tech makes more sense.

But yes I see your point.
