Saw this PVR reduced in my local Tesco today (Solihull Extra) - presume it's on runout and will be the same price anywhere stock remains in store.

I believe this is the 80Gb version. I bought the 160Gb version earlier in the year - it's been brilliant (reliable and very easy to operate) and that was around the £90 mark. Ticket on this one states reduced from £39.98 but I'm sure they were around £80 originally.

At this price it's a steal - cheap enough for a second TV or just as a backup.

Good luck if you are after one. Hope there are more out there.

As stated, seen in store and probably on runout so assume remaining store stock only. Link is generic one added automatically by HUKD.

Yep, does that.

Are you sure about that?? Because i have the exact same player as the photo, but it's branded with "digihome pvr80". It's original maker is Grundig i believe and other's just re-badge and sell.

My one, although great, definitely has limitations, one major one being that it doesn't do series recording just by selecting the tv show. Recording individual shows is a piece of cake, just select what you want recorded.

Also you can't record two programmes at the same time as the system can't cope due to lack of memory. You can record one channel and watch another with no issues.

All in all, great player at a fantastic price.

Anyone know if this has a 2.5" IDE hard drive in it, my ancient lappy can be revived with this lol

I bought one of these over 18 months ago from Asda but branded as Dual. It's a basic PVR but works well and no real problems with it, still working well now. It cost me £80 quid and was worth that then, well worth £20 of anyones money, I'm going to try to pick one up as a spare, it'd cost that for a replacement remote

Got a 160gb techwood model but exactly the same.... Original manufacturer is a Turkish company called "Vestel"

If you can get a serial cable do an internet search for vestel and firmware. You can upgrade the firmware to record two different channels and watch hard drive recordings at same time.

This thing is a must have if you are a telly addict... had it for years and never missed my shows. So easy.

That's right, Vestel is the original manufacturer, my mistake, Grundig had a version too and i had their manual from online hence the confusion.

I did upgrade my firmware when i first got it to fix a judder issue but didn't use the two-channel-recording firmware as i remember reading it causes various issues such as epg problems?

Hot, hope my local has one, Thanks.

Anyone know of any stock levels round them - our DVD /VCR/Freeview combi that cost us £250 packed in after about 18 months so we can not record any channels now and I can't afford to replace with anything similar. Am especially interested for the west midlands.

None left in store in Solihull now.

Staff were blissfully unaware (or happy with their purchases)

I've done both on mine:

It has recorded series when I didn't want it to (must have pressed the wrong button sometime!).
It records two programmes which overlap.

I've already got it SCART only. However anything I record looks excellent when played:thumbsup:

Vestel make a lot of the cheap brand TVs such as Wharfedale that are sold in Argos.

I had to get a refund for my 8 month Wharfedale 47" LCD as the repair company can't get the parts.
#34
Can you record onto this hard drive from an external source ie security cam?

Yes...3rd party "unofficial" firmware so at your own risk.

Apart from adding dual channel recording didn't notice anything else...

looking at http://www.futaura.co.uk/vestel.html may not even need to mod as this may be a newer version??
