Hey. So I just got an iPhone 3GS and as the battery is pretty poor decided to get myself a dock to easily charge my mobile whilst at my desk.

Started looking an apple want a cracking £45 for a flipping dock!!!

Found this one. Its got good reviews and bad reviews. The bad reviews basically say it doesnt come with a spare cable.....WTF....so what? its less than £7...

anyway. thought it was a great price and free delivery.

Happy buying.

I don't see the point of these.

If I understand it right it's just a piece of plastic/aluminium that holds the iPhone? You still need to supply your own charging/sync cable.

Why not just plug in a sync cable and let it sit on the desk or table? If you want it propped up, presumably you could lean it against something!

The reviews on Amazon say that some devices don't sit too well and the slightest knock dislodges them from the connector, looks rubbish to me.

The fact that apple sell a dock for loadsamoney says more about apple than anything else :)

Hey thanks, what a fantastic contribution you have made. What a great point you made, thankyou so much for this advice...just prop my phone up against something...why didnt i think of that.

I will immediately cancel my order on amazon and prop my phone up.

....WHAT THE HELL...

The wire sticks out the bottom which means on my desk....my mobile is UPSIDE down when on charge....so i want a dock to rest the iphone in.

goddam you!!!

Settle down.

I'm sure there are cheaper ways to prop up an iphone while charging, but if you want to spend a few quid on this then I'm not going to stop you, but there's no need for the aggression :)

Go and have a cuppa, it'll all be OK.

I know, thats what I think as well. Seems money for nothing.

I'm with the OP on this, the only real way of standing the device up (plugged in) is with one of these + you can also connect to speakers / amp etc by way of a 3.5 plug in to the dock base, instead of having the wire trailing out from the top of the device.

Can't comment on this actual one, but I have the Apple version (cost me £11.00 off Ebay) and find it invaluable.

Regardless of your rant, nickelarse, I agree with LouO.

If you wish to stand your handset vertically so you can still see the screen in the correct orientation whilst charging that is your prerogative. If you cannot construct something to emulate the structure the docking station offers then this product is for you.

Some of us, however, either don't have the need to do this, or can find a convenient resting place for our hardware whilst it is charging.

I am happy to have my handset lying horizontally on my desk whilst I type away. I am still able to see the entire screen, read it, and interface with it if need be as I am looking down upon it.

I'm not voting cold... I'm just not voting.

Hope somebody else can offer you a suitable review though.

There are quite a few reviews on Amazon, and they're not all positive.

The fact that it's universal means the iPhone won't sit very well and according to some reviews you have to wiggle it to get the line-out to work, sounds like a piece of tat to me.

That's a great idea!

I can even use company paper, net cost to me 0.
