You can buy some cheap 960h camera from eBay now! Swann stuff is too expensive for what you actually get

Examples?

Note as I mentioned above true 700TVL 960H cameras are quite expensive (~£80 each) hence my post for the ones in maplin, which was a great deal for 2 cameras (~£90).
If you do a quick search on amazon for Maxx digital 700tvl camera then you can find plenty of good cheap cameras to go with this unit from the same seller. Ideally a kit with some small bullets would be nice.

For 4 cameras this one doesnt seem to be much of a better deal than the SWANN selling at Maplin...or am I missing something
for 4 cameras almost £340

http://www.maplin.co.uk/swann-4-camera-1tb-cctv-system-787984?
£360 for that

Not everyone needs or wants to pay for 4 cameras - 2 is more than sufficient.

The above price is from hong kong, £1.49 from uk.
Cheaper to buy a longer cable surely

Bought one of these to do "away with sky" . Tried for 3 weeks to convince myself it was as good as sky , then caved in and re-ordered sk,,,,,,.

You could have saved yourself a lot of hassle if all you wanted were the basic channels plus PVR functionality by subscribing to ONLY Sky+ for £10pm (ie Sky's free channels with EPG/recording facility).

Why are freesat recorders generally 2 to 3 times the price of freeview ones?

What 500gb freeview HD boxes are ther for around £70-£100?

Not a bad price. I recently bought an equivalent Samsung SMT-S7800 for the same price, as the Humax was £40 more. I'm pleased with the Samsung, can't fault it. Apparently compares to the Humax, which is considered the bench-mark.

And I do not understand that, not at all. I have a Humax, and it is generally nice, but it also has a significant number of bugs, limitations, and just bad interface decisions. MythTV on the other hand also has a number of annoying issues, but the programming via web interface makes up for a lot of them.

Surely somebody should be able to come up with a superior PVR?
