Hi they also have a swisstec 42 inc lcd for £499 on ebuyer, anyone know if they are any good or not ???
#3
Dunno if they Swisstec is any good but I bought the 32" TECO last time it appeared on HUKD and it is an awesome set.

Its a great picture - only drawback is that it doesn't have the adjustments that you would get from a SONY or SAMSUNG.

hmm, lots of connectivity, anyone got one and confirm picture quality on SD and HD?

I have one - The picture quality seems good to me, I have no complaints having used it with sky plus, through an upscaling DVD player, Nintendo Wii via component cables or driven by my laptop.
Colour isn't perfect - it's inclined towards making flesh tones a bit overly red but this can largely be corrected for in the colour settings.
The only real annoyances are that in it's auto picture sizing mode it puts ugly stripes across 4:3 ratio on some programmes fed via sky (these go when you manually choose the scaling you want) and you can't program inputs to channel numbers, with so many of them you have to slowly cycle through each one (there is a button for the 4 high def sources and another for the 5 standard def sources) to find the device you are looking for.
Overall it's still well worth the money given the size and I'd keep it over the alternative of a higher quality 32" screen.
I'd advise checking all the inputs as soon as you get the thing, I discovered after two weeks the second HDMI port didn't work having bought it for £500 from DirectTVs a month ago. DirectTV washed their hands at the whole situation, refused to swap it even if I drove the tv over to them myself and my only way of getting it fixed is under the warranty which will result in the tv being taken away for two weeks.

Save your cash, wait and then buy a decent brand - it will save you money in the long run. When will people get the message? There's a reason that you can get a 40 inch TV for under £500 - cos it's rubbish. Buy a Sony/Samsung/Panasonic etc instead.

What is your thinking behind that?

I have a TECO and a Samsung and have to admit that the Samsung offers a slightly better picture due to its adjustment options but the TECO comes wih a 2 year warranty and offers significantly better value for money to the extent that if I scrapped it after 2 years and 1 day, I would be happy with my purchase.

Hi, This product is basically a Viewsonic. The electronics and panel are used in a Viewsonic equivalent product (made for them by Teco). The part numbers are similar. Viewsonic however do not carry out after-sales queries with these products and , having contacted the manufacturers directly on several occasions and not once having received a reply I'd say that this cannot be compared like for like with a Viewsonic equivalent. just under £500 sounds reasonable though admittedly. Not sure who provides the warranty though. Either eBuyer or Teco themselves via an 0870 number. Don't know a non-0870 equivalent nor what company services/repairs these. Not sure if this correct but the panel that's used on this product is made by Samsung. Voted hot.

HTH.
