I have a similar looking Tefal and the thing is a pain in the neck if it's the same one .. mine might be smaller but it's so annoying as the handle tips the thing over constantly when the pan is empty without any weight in it to balance it.

You'd think a company as big as tefal had more commonsense then to make a pan that tips itself over.

Thanks, just reserved one - perfect for my hubby's birthday as he has started making pancakes for the kids on a Sunday and was moaning about the pan we have.......:)

Agree. We use this regularly. Balancing pan is a act in itself. Handle of the pan is deteriorating when I complained to WREL (company appointed by tefal to look in to complains) they refused to refund stating it can not be manufacturing defect (even tho clearly the handle was falling into pieces). I would not recommend at full price but at this price they are ok.

Great pans! I've used these for the past 10 years and I only broke my first one because I used metal fish slices on it which damaged the non stick.

Use plastic utensils and only wash it now and then (wipe it clean with kitchen towel) and it will last years and years. :)

That is probably the small omelette pan. I have one and the handle is the same size as larger pans. As you say, the weight of the handle can cause an empty pan to over-balance. On my gas hob this is only a minor inconvenience and only caught me out a couple of times when I first used it.

As frying pans go, these red-spot Tefals are very good. Getting a bit pricey nowadays so this 24cm one for a tenner is a good deal.

We have an induction hob which these don't work on (not really sure why not).

Can anyone recommend a good pan for an induction hob? Really want a good one for cooking steaks.

The cheaper Tefal pans are made from aluminium which does not work well with induction hobs. If you go up their ranges then they have compatible products. Argos don't stock them.
http://www.tefal.co.uk/All+Products/Cookware/Non+stick+cookware/ list their ranges - the stainless steel ones, Preference or Selective are the ones to go for. Amazon have the Preference range but it will cost you £30 to £40 for a frying pan or griddle.
