I wish these would start going down in price a bit. They've been £100+ for years! Bit much for chips.

Ah the old ActiDie, there is a reason these inferno inducing bad boys tend to be on offer, THEY BURN YOUR HOUSE DOWN.

Great idea just poorly designed.

P.S if you are hell bent on buying this kitchen scorching implement than I would suggest that you invest in one of these:http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=1500002201&langId=-1&searchTerms=FIRE+EXTINGUSHER

DO NOT BUY THESE!

Really you're wasting your money.

IT WILL POP probably just days after warranty and TEFAL WILL NOT CARE.

We had two and a replacement paddle (which snapped). in total we had about 8 months of use out of both of them.

The brand new replacement direct from tefal had 12 months warranty, it popped on the last day of that so tefal wiggled out of replacing it by lying and saying it only had 6 months warranty, since the first one died in it's 3rd month that's a grand total of 9 months not the 12 we have by law.

Tefals solution...buy another one!

AVOID!

Oh, and you can ignore all of the 5 star amazon rviews, look closer on that site. You'll find threads about how they all popped and the customers couldn't get it replaced, same with the hinge/paddle cracking problems.

NONE of these problems have been fixed either, contrary to what you may hear, they're expensive and unreliable.

You can dismiss this as one persons bad experience, so I suppose I can't do anymore, but a least you have been warned; buyer beware!

Amazon discussions first 8 ofut of 44 and three are on problems:

Title: Tefal Actifry poor construction, broken paddle, broken lid.

Title: BBC Watchdog Safety Report (tefal claim it's fixed the problems reported, continuing complints say otherwise)

Moral of the story is, let the guinea pigs test new cars/mobiles/electrical equipment. Then when all the problems are rectified and the item is cheaper, pile in. That's the money f'ing saving way .

I got one, use it all the time.

You bought a kitchen gadget and used it more than a couple of times before confining it to the back of a cupboard :?
you can't really blame them for not replacing if your not using it as intended :whistling:

What are you talking about you muppet can you even read, it was used throughout the short time we had it and was never put way, they kept breaking and tefal refused to replace it after we had it only 9 months, so yes I can blame tefal; along with the thousands of others with the same complaint.

Clown.

Oh, to clarify we had it 9 months because the first lasted 3 months of constant use then popped, the second was used and the paddle broke (so much for the back of the cupboard theory) and we had to wait months for them to replace it (the only time it sat around unused). Then it popped giving 9 month total use for two.

Our house is still standing, we weren't guinea pigs either, we bought after they said they'd fixed the fire problems.

We 'used' it all the time'as well your house may be standing, so's ours but you wont be this smug soonbecause it will die on you. They're not built to last full stop.

Bought my mum and dad one for Christmas, they love it! Shame about the price though.

Well this all depends now doesnt it... is this the old white version (that I have had 2 of as the fan kept failing and they burnt out)... I have had them replaced every time as well, with no bother at all... but I took mine back to the retailer I bought it off COSTCO rather than tefal... the last one I had replaced was actually 14 months old, but costco still refunded all my money and let me buy another (That way you get another full years warranty as it is classed as you buying a new item)

However if it is the new Black version they have brought out then they seem to have resolved all the issues with it... I now have a new BLACK one and I am having no problems at all with it...

I do not just do chips in it as well, the black one comes with a 50 page recipe book for curries and chilli dishes and all sorts...

I'm now on my 3rd Actifry... and the fact that I keep getting them replaced tells you how good they are, as long as you do not overload them then you will have no problem with the Paddle ect. as the paddle only struggles when the machine is too full or you have forgotten to add the spoon full of oil and the things you are cooking dry up...

No wonder tefal arent interested in replacing if you price up the lid. Around £25 to £35 plus P+P for a lid that was badly designed.
I bought a actifry for a fiver that needed a new lid hence why I know the prices but TBH I dont think I will be replacing the lid as the timer is way too dangerous. Oh and the non stick is starting to come off. £13 to replace that.
1. the timer alarm is too low.
2. it doesnt turn the acti off.
Some say use a louder timer but why should you.
Tefal should recall or even just replace the lid FOC

you are either an actifry hater or lover.

i would ignore all the bad press about this machine as there were absolutely thousands in circulation and most are fine. also most of the ones that are blown are the old ones! i haven't heard of one of the new ones doing the same. i have just bought a black limited edition one as i was cautious and wanted to make sure i had nwe stock. these have slightly bigger fans on so are a different design..so hopefully mine will be fine.

also my black and silver one only cost £135! they have all come down in price since the watchdog scare last year. but tefal have assured there customers that the majority of their fryers are absolutely fine! and it was really a very small percentage..something like 0.04% of all of the fryers manufactured had fan faults!

If you fancy one, but are put off by the reliabiity, then Argos will give you a 3-year warranty for an extra £23.99. If it fails within 3 years, you can take it back to the shop and get an immediate replacement or refund (in gift vouchers). Makes the overall price £143.98 and then a £10 voucher off - still a good bit cheaper than RRP, and comes with peace of mind. Don't usually go for extended warranties, but this time it seems not a bad idea
#20
sandym GOOD POINT!! i wish i'd of thought of that
#21
Does anyone know how likely this is to be the black version of the fryer?

I bought a black on last month from Home And Cook for £139.99 delivered using the code HC528. It still works, I just tried it.
