Got one when it first came out, and returned it, as after a while the water was as warm and not hot. Its very loud too. At the time I paid 69.99 for mine... good price now, but would never have another.

Cheers gemnat ;-)

No worries.

I can only go by my experience on this, but forgot to add, in my post......my mother-in-law got one as she lives on her own, as she was initally impressed with mine one, she was happy to start with but suffered same problem, she returned hers to her retailer in Sudbury, and got refund, I got mine form catalogue, so cant even say they were from same batch, if you know what I mean.

Interesting!

So what's the water like when it "boils"?
#11
I had one of these but it ended up in the cupboard. They are fine if you only drink coffee, the water doesn't get hot enough to make decent tea.

erm, it probably looks the same as it does when its not boiled...only its a little hotter (or if the kettle does what its supposed to,i guess a whole lot hotter) :p

have known a couple of people who bought one of these and had same problems as mentioned above...good price though

These are a good idea but I ended up having to keep my old kettle as well for cooking when I needed a lot of boiling water it took too long with this. Also jug is quite fragile breaks easily..

This and the breville thread is interesting. My mate has one of these, I am round regularly and demand tea ;o)

I think (as do they) these instant hot water machines are fine for tea, it's hot and you can drink it straight away. But tea drinking is hurrendously subjective, and I'm a little bewildered at how people are saying definitively that this is good and that is rubbish. The only way is to try it and see if it makes a good cup of tea/coffee for you.

The price is a good deal as it is the cheapest out there. That should be why people vote hot or cold, not whether they like the product....this is all in my humble opinion of course!

So I vote hot, but I won't be buying one as a present because who knows if the recipient will like how it makes a cup of tea!

these are cr*p as the water does not boil hot enough for tea. Bought one form Argos for £70, returned it after 5 days

Being a massive tea fan I love my one of these and wonder how i managed without it (waiting for hot water seems so out dated).

with regard the not hot enough issue true its not boiling water but as any tea Connoisseur will tell you the water should not be boiling as it burns the bag (when using tea bags obviously). I think people run into issues when they put the milk in the cup first reducing the temperature stopping optimal brewing.

So put the milk in last (the way it should be) and you've got a cup of tea in record time!

Yuk! you can't make nice tea without boiling water. Mind you I prefer tea made in a pot with loose tea, not bags.

avoid these at all cost
ive had 3 for friends and family
all 3 went back to costsco
#22
I've taken 2 of these back - both broke completely after a couple of months. Water was never really hot enough either.

I would avoid, even at this price

I have had one for over a year. I love it the mrs drinks tea and loves it. It produces hot water a 96-98degrees onto a sugar thermometer so it is hot. I live in a hard water area. East Anglia. It get the descale warning after a couple of weeks and was a nightmare to de scale it took 4-5 bottles of 500ml of vinegar to clear it with several reruns of the used vinegar. I felt it was not worth it with the added costs, but after a year have realised you can descale every 3-4 months with 1-1.2L of distilled vinegar which is used in the washing machine afterwards. It seems to need to be very scaled up to be descaled easily. The water still seems to be hot and for the convenience I will buy another when this one dies. I used to boil a kettle and the baby would cry or the phone would ring or the door would go and i would forget so I would return to a part boiled kettle and so have to reboil it and then forget it again and I could go an hour or 2 before I got a hot drink, with this it pours straight into the cup and for a delay of 20-25 secs (not 2-3 mins) I would get a hot drink. Bliss. Everyone could wait 20 seconds and if the door bell goes it still pours into the cup so the tea brews so the cooler drink is still palatable.

Get one you will not regret it. This is one of the best things i have ever bought.;-)

Do not buy from choicebrands, their items are catalogue returns.

If you have a problem with an item they will just ignore any contact you make to them, that's if you can contact them at all as your emails just keep getting bounced back and they dont answer the phone.

Before you buy google it and see all the bad feedback they are getting.
