Try again. Product might well be worth avoiding, though! ;-)
It does have terrible reviews doesn't it! Though there is an alternative that has much better reviews which I haven't seen before http://www.amazon.co.uk/Breville-Hot-Cup-Boiling-Button/dp/B001L5SSGQ/
looks good!
Good for *warm* water - wouldn't recommend.
What is the cartridge for?

What is the cartridge for?

To filter the water so its an ongoing cost to bear in mind !
I think it's a pretty good gadget - it is perfect for making a single cup of coffee at drinking temperature
drinking scorching hot drinks is bad for you. but i can see how this *may* cause problems with making tea if it is not hot enough to get the tea out of the leaves.

voted hot cause its perfect for my morning coffee!
Warm water, getting progressively less warm with use. Good price though if you want to drink cold tea but need an appliance that can take you there in small steps. ;-)
poor product mine didnt give you the boiling water and then went faulty , dont buy this
Agreed with the other comments, VERY VERY noisy as it seems to vibrate almost.

Didnt have a problem with water temp although only had it a week
got the breville this weekend and its great and hot in more ways than one
i paid £full price for this in Nov 08. Do Amazon still do that price promise? (and would it cover 4 month ago!!??!!)
I paid £50 or £79.99 for mine either one it was a waste of money for what is basically a Novelty show off Item.
Warm water .... just not hot enough for a decent cup of tea, so we now use this for some drinks and kettle for tea.

The Breville equivalent is supposed to produce much hotter water.
Clever marketing people at SEB, the Tefal rep came to see me about these to sell before they came out, retail was going to be £19.99.

Had the first load didnt sell that well, then they put it on the gadget show and it wins and they double the price over night., still a poor product im my opinion I get 1 in 4 back for replacement under warranty
Anybody with GCSE Physics will tell you why this wouldn't work. You need about 2KW of power to raise the temperature of 0.5L of water by 1 degree in a second. And Max for a 13A fuse is about 3KW. Do the maths.
just use a 3kw kettle with only one cup of water in.

takes about 20 secs to achieve a hot drinking temperature. Are people really in this much of a rush?
Not ideal if you want more than one cup of tea and don't want to stand with your finger on the button for an eternity.
pants product you'd need to pay me.

sounds like its taking off hwen its 'boiling' water and water so cold coffee, sugar and hot chocolate dpesnt even melt. I took ours back and the sales woman said she hadnt sold one which hadnt been returned soon after.

complete waste of money. good in principle but DOESNT WORK

Totally agree. We have a Zip Hydroboil at work instead of a kettle, and it is excellent. This toy version just doesn't cut it.
Whats up with you people Ive had one of these for months with no problems. Its a bit noisy but so what. You only need filter in hard water areas. The instructions tell you to run some water off 1st to allow the hot water to come through. GOOD PRODUCT if you know how to use it. It seems like a lot of people cant figure it out though.

Voted Hot (like the water out of mine)
Go for the Breville - takes about 30 seconds for a 250ml mugfull but it's brilliant.

my kettle is quicker than that! :w00t:
I have one of these in the computer room upstairs and think its fantasic as long as you can ignore the noise it makes.

I only drink black coffee and find the temp of the water more than fine, but other people who use it have milk and complained that it was too cold.
why do people keep mentioning the noise? its only on for 3 seconds is it not?
why do people keep mentioning the noise? its only on for 3 seconds is it not?

I have had one of these for a year:

1) Yes it can be a little noisey
2) Once the button is pressed it takes around 3 seconds to phsyically deliver the water
3) Its NOT boliling it never claims to be
4) SOME people don't think it is hot enough i.e. boiling Others find it is ok

Each to their own - this now seems a fair price for this unit, which does get mixed reviews and as TEFAL started this craze of new and better models are not on the market - hey look at Apple Ipod they were not the first portable mp3 player!

Hot price (albeit not boiling)
