I've reserved one of these with my Amex card (£10off ) so now can anyone tell my why I shouldn't bother please.
#3
you may want to check out the celestron 70 Travelscope kit in Amazon for £51.67....

Total rubbish. Nowhere near wide enough mirror for any meaningful use. Add in the loss of light from the eyepiece mirror to such a small mirror diameter/aperture and this is basically a 2 inch newtonian reflector, useless for pretty much everything.

You'd be better off with a pair of binoculars for your 50 quid.

Well, if you don't mind being labelled a Voyeur, then go right ahead.

Cold - As said above, its too small to be any good, more likely to put people off astronomy than encourage it, spend your money on a pair of celestron skymaster binoculars you'll see much more and it'll be much easier to navigate the sky

Duly noted...thanks :)

he's right. spend the 50 on good binoculars. unless you want a telescope shaped ornament as a talking point for parties.

Wasn't a rant. It was meaningful advice to a fellow HUKD'er about to waste money on what might as well have been a piece of drainpipe with a shaving mirror stuck in one end. If mission's accomplished, then yeah, I do feel better. Thanks for asking.

Now down to £44.99, even cheaper for those interested in it.

As others have said, its not a good scope. Mirror far too small for anything other than the moon. Tripod is awful too. You can buy some semi decent 10x50 or 15x70 binoculars for that price.
