It was great when i could handle it, but its a long way to go to get p*****, could do just as well going down the pub and have a sunbed afterwards, then punch yourself in the face and get someone to pee over your shoes:thumbsup:

Went here several years back and would avoid at all costs. Considerable problems with rowdy behaviour day and night and rooms being broken into at an alarming rate! Thousands of huge cockroaches everywhere as someone previously mentioned.

We used to go in my younger day's to Playa De Las Americas and it was getting rowdy in the late 80's so god know's what it's like now? but it's horse's for course's if I were 20 years younger I'd probably still love it. As for it being a dive what can you expect for £8 a night? If I remember rightly you were never there much anyway and as long as your place had a bed it was good enough! Actually, thinking about it it sounds great! I can see the headlines now "Middle aged MP and family man arrested in Playa for drinking 36 cans of Bud in 24 hours and stripping naked and showing his "winky"" when asked for a comment he said "bleep off you bleeping bleeper and tell my wife I'll be back on Wednesday to give my maiden speech in parliament! and I must remember to claim my accommodation back on expenses." And guys and gals dont forget to vote for my party "I got rseholed in Tenerife" in the European elections.

I stayed in the Costa Adeje Gran in Las Americas and the area is nice, if a little Blackpool-y on the front. But I walked past this place and it looked nice enough, for a bargain basement holiday especially if you have kids.

Edit: taxi from the airport (Reina Sofia) is about 20 minutes and about 25-30 euro (but maybe 35 euro now, this was over a year ago). Do NOT eat in the Burger King in it...!!!

Avoid the expensive attractions like Loro Parque, there's loads free to do in Costa Adeje or over in Los Cristianos (10 min taxi or a good 30 min walk on the coast for the active). Don't believe all you hear about Tenerife it has some lovely attractions if you stay away from the chavvy nightclubs and 1* hovels certain Brits like to frequent (yes Jodie Marsh is accurate). And especially avoid the 'Veronicas' area 20-25 mins from the hotel...its a bit rough. Head towards Bahia Del Duque where you can walk on the lovely private beaches with zero chav infiltration, and then on up to Mount Tiede, through traditional Spanish homes.

Unless you like nightclubbing then do the opposite of the above!!

Big problem with apartments being broken into here

I stayed here about 10 years ago and left after the first night

I would only recommend if you have no personal gear with you, if you are about 18 and on the serious beer and do not care where you are

Location is on a steep hill about 30 min walk from las americas

If you are a family DO NOT book this place

I stayed there in April - have to say me and the missus had a whale of a time. The secret is to email them a few weeks before you arrive with your info - drop some subtle hints alluding to the fact you may just be a travel agent and your room will be spick and spam! Ours was - saw one cockroach all holiday and that was down by McDonald's at the beach. I found the staff at the hotel were most polite, only issues with the holiday were cardiac hill - but a 4 euro taxi from the beach is an instant solution, and the guys selling sun shades on the beach which get VERY annoying after the first day. Being polite doesn't really work so be stern and say no thank you most assertively. If a bloke comes up to you and puts a parrot on your shoulder don't fall for it and don't pay him, we did and it cost us 10 euros. Something to look back and laugh at but plenty of people have been conned in that way according to many holiday review sites!

My rating for the holiday was 10/10, loved every minute and the dolphin trip was fantastic, as was the new Siam park.

EDIT - forgot to say the resort is very expensive, ended up spending at least 35 euros at dinner every night, so eating in saves a lot of money - chorizo and cheese baguettes for breakfast, lunch and dinner did the trick for me :). If you're into live music check out the bar down by McDonald's on Torviscas beach, they have a great band who play there every night, all the older rock groups covered.

I Avoid the expensive attractions like Loro Parque,

What a crazy statement....Loro parque is THE premier attraction on Tenerife..it is one of, if not the BEST animal park in Europe.

If you avoid Loro Parque, youve missed out on a treat. it would be like going to Paris and not seeing the Eiffel Tower or going to Rome and not visiting the Colloseum.

if you want to avoid anything, just avoid Playa De Las Americas, its a hovel, a dive and a truly AWFUL resort in every way.

we've been to lag 2 and it was okay. not for the elderly or disabled tho!

You could search tripadvisor before deciding as you should get unbiased views from them . I've checked for this accommodation and reviews are mixed with some people absoultely loving it.
#23
Have a look at some different places if this is not for you, just change the search as there is quite a lot more places at a great price.

I remember the "welcome to the hotel" speech, just sat back in the chair enjoying the free welcome drink. and as soon as they said the " Jolly Roger" pirate ship tour, booked it and regretted it after drinking my body weight in punch:? ohhhh to be young (ish) again:):)

Looks like you and I think the same about these things. That's a reppable review as far as I am concerned.

Tenerife is smashing but Los Americas - no! Unless you're 18 and want to hang around with lots of other english chavs I 'spose.
#27
Nothing wrong with Cardiac Hill,I think we could all benefit from a little strenuous walk.Problem is as much as I love the place (Las Americas) it's getting really expensive just to breathe there - so gonna give it a miss.

Er, I hardly think you can compare the Eiffel Tower to a tourist attraction in Tenerife. I don't like paying a fortune to stare at sad looking animals and listen to spoilt chavvy kids scream and run around. I think a family on a budget holiday in Tenerife can do a lot better to save their money and explore the island rather than go to yet another identikit tourist attraction.

I don't disagree with you regarding Playa De Las Americas which is why I recommended Bahia Del Duque, but in the times I have been to the Costa Adeje Gran (which is a very nice 5* you can pick up quite cheaply now on Teletext if you're flexi on dates) I have noticed the amount of touts reduce greatly meaning you can actually have a walk on the front without being offered ten fried breakfasts and a cheap pint in the local Irish bar (and ten different scuba experiences).

Whenever I go on holiday I do it to experience the scenery and wherever I stay I give the tourist areas a wide berth (apart from the historical ones of course, I am going to Rome, Florence, Pisa, Monte Carlo, Sardinia, Majorca and Mallorca in a few weeks and intend to take some nice photos and explore the 'real' country. That's what I did in Tenerife and that's why I'd never turn my nose up at a good hotel deal because a holiday is what you make it!

You probably need to re-read what i wrote, i didnt say tenerife was a bad place, just that Playa De Las Americas was...i didnt say you had to stay in resort, quite the oposite really, you wouldnt want to stay in las Americas unless you were on an 18-30s type hoiday.

And anyone NOT going to Loro Parque when visiting Tenerife will have missed out BIG TIME on quite simply an AMAZING Animal Park with breathtaking shows - the chavs stay in PLaya, the people with class go to Loro.

Oh...Puerto De La Cruz in the north of Tenerife is also a GREAT resort if you dont like Chavs or Kids...or even English people for that fact - i try and stay away from the English whilst im on holiday cos quite frankly they are an embarasing mess !!

 I wasnt comparing the Eiffel Tower to Loro Parque...i was simply saying that Loro parque is to Tenerife what the Eiffel Tower is to Paris etc etc - ie it is the No1 Tourist attraction of that area - which it is. And basically if you visit Tenerife but DONT got there then youve missed out.

I have to agree Loro Parque is class

I've just been to Paris and would rather go to Loro Parque any time

I have to say theres a lot more to Las Americas than just Veronicas and chavs. We have holidayed in Tenerife 5 times in the last 2 years. Stayed in Las Americas and Los Cristianos, beautiful place, especially Las Vistas beach area and the new Safari shopping centre. Although i cant comment on this hotel as i havent been there.

Try Ryanair... best u can do is rent a car.. quiet cheap (100/week) and you will have the freedom to travel all around the island. tenerife is a nice destination.
#37
So, can you book a room for £8, or is it £8 per person, with huge occupancy minimum?

Oh, just came up as -

£189.82 for 7 nights, 1 person. Not a deal
