Terminator 2: Judgment Day (2 Disc Ultimate Edition) - £3.95 delivered @ DVD.co.uk

Review : Never-before-seen footage has been added to the story of the Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a cyborg sent back through time, who joins forces with Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), a woman haunted by nightmares of mankind's inevitable nuclear destiny. Together, they must protect her son John (Edward Furlong) - the boy destined to lead the freedom fighters of the future - from the deadliest machine ever created, the liquid metal T-1000 (Robert Patrick).

'Terminator 2: Judgement Day - Ultimate Edition' restores over fifteen minutes of additional material to the original theatrical release of the film, including Sarah Connor's vision of the late Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn), the reprogramming of the Terminator by John and Sarah, and the obsession of Miles Dyson (Joe Morton) to create the computer chip that could lead the world to nuclear destruction. These scenes, and more, enchance this tour de force of astounding visuals and powerful emotions to create a compelling new version of one of the biggest hits of all time.

One of the added sections is where they remove Arnie's processor - they do this in front of a mirror, opening his head to take the chip out. What's really clever here (and not at all obvious to me at least) is that it isn't a mirror - the Arnie which has its head open is obviously a model with the real Arnie sitting exactly opposite him, speaking to make it all seem real. You have Linda Hamilton working on the head and then to make it look like a mirror you have her twin sister copying her movements exactly, no digital trickery.

It's easily one of my all time favourite films for many reasons but I think what's really helped the fiilm 'age' is that they didn't rely on CGI instead using models and camera tricks which age far better than computer effects.
