It's not quite that bad. Have you ever seen Mind Your Language or Please Sir, or any 70's ITV comedy series for that matter?

I am surprised that they made 7 series though. I suppose it's because we now live in an era where they only ever seem to now make 2 series max.

You're now reminding me of those Little Britain sketches when his chavvy mate fancies his gran.

im sure they made about 9 series. i know one of the series was quite big so they released it in 2 volumes, i think thats series 8.

i love the show, i used to have the first 4 or 5 on dvd but sold them. this is quite a good deal at under £4 per series, they are just good fun.

The day I get Terry & June on DVD is the day i'll have to install a secret DVD collection storage behind a painting on the wall or something.

These days writers concentrate their ideas and efforts into, say, twelve shows rather than try to spread things ridulously thinly over fifty or sixty. Comedy is vastly superior as a result.

Don't make me laugh.....!

Haven't you seen shows like Steptoe and Son which are legendary and continued for more than just a couple of seasons.....?

I'd say that was an exception rather than the rule, though, along with most Clement and La Frenais material and Dad's Army.

What about Porridge too, they made three series of that?

That's three exceptions then.:whistling:

And then there's...

The Fall & Rise Of Reginald Perrin - 3 series.

The Good Life - 4 series.

Monty Python's Flying Circus - 4 series.

The Goodies - 9 series (admittedly went off a bit towards the end on ITV)

Etc, etc.

I did say "most Clement and La Frenais material", and besides, three series is still pretty succinct.

Reggie Perrin could probably have been condensed into two series and I'm a huge Python fan but the last series was atrocious.

I always thought The Good Life was, at best, pretty mediocre and the Goodies was very hit and miss.

Yes, but it remains to be seen how many comedies made over the past 10 years will still be being played in 35 years.
