Tesco 6-man tent down to £11.25

rob5110rob5110

Great value tent from Tesco.

Perfect as a big summer tent - camping or in the garden.
Not the best quality ever, but for £11.25, you can't go wrong.

Blurb from Tesco: Essentially 2 hoop tents facing each other with a waterproof flysheet joining them together, the Tesco 6-person vis-a-vis tent has the space for 3 persons to sleep in each.
The flysheet provides more space by covering a living area between the 2 tents. The whole kit includes colour-coded poles, air vents to handle condensation, taped seams and a porch with clear view windows and insect netting. .

wow sure is cheap - only just waterproof though at 1500, but for this price its still a bargain for music festivals - though if you going camping for a week id spend a bit more on simething ok or decent like a regatta or vango

id recommend getting something like a vango eg icarus 500 but wait till end of season - bought the 2010 model when the 2011 came out - my 2010 one cost me £115, new 2011 one was near £250, see the 2012 one is £260 now

OK for summer... just not a British summer. ;)

I thought 'wow that's cheap' but seeing as it's not waterproof it's basically useless.

I've bought 40 so I can keep my collection of 5p zebra camping chairs in them.

The tent is waterproof! Some people with less ability (or that has drunk to much in a festival :) may not know how to stretch it properly and then get soaked if the outer layer is touching the inner layer while raining.

Keep an eye on Flea bay. I predict there are going to be a lot of 'used only once' tents for sale going at bargain prices....

I have a very similar tent, got it 5 years ago. It is waterproof, to a degree. Certainly wont hold up to the weather we've had lately, but then not a lot will! Its fine for the odd shower, heavy rain gets through though.

Is there loads of camping stuff in the sale?

Going to a festival next month and could do with some new stuff.

Tempting to buy one just for the kids to play in in the garden.

I have just left one of these at a festival, due to it leaking on both nights. We only paid the above price, but apparently it should of been £50. If rain is forecast, I would look elswhere.

You can buy water-proofing spray for about 7 quid, so for less than 20 quid you can get this tent and waterproof it.

Bought a similar one 4 years ago for £18 (wet Summer then too IIRC). Great value for occasional use, fine in a shower just not if there's strong rain, weak point is the zips - we chucked it last year when the zips had been totally replaced with gaffer tape! Anyway, have ordered another as a spare to the more expensive tent we have now, heat added.

I would only use this tent in a desert.

I`ve never expected a tent to be waterproof straight out of the bag. At the very least I`ve always treated the seams with sealant to make it more secure.

Looking at the dimensions I don`t think it would work as a 6 man tent, though. Realistically, it`s a lot more like a 4 manner, especially with those angled corners in the sleeping areas.

    Heat given.

Tried to order this last week at this price, but had the order cancelled. Let's see if it works this time. Given recent form from Tesco Direct, I have no doubts.

We've only ever used it as a very roomy 2 man!

That or buy some cheap pots of vaseline, aply a small bit and rub it in.
