wine mixed with vodka? hmmmmmm

I believe the St.Emilion Grand Cru/Moskovskaya version is particularly tasty, topped only by the Chateau Petrus/Stolichnaya combination favoured by the elite - Sigh :(

a good piece of advice I was given a long time ago - don't cook with anything you wouldn't drink.

It seems I have an impediment the OP lacks here ;)

I bought a box of this Tesco's Red. Ok, it's not great wine. It has a sherry-****-cough medicine apres gout which is something of an acquired taste! I would and have bought it again (cos it's cheap!) but in my 'umble opinion, I'd recommend you opt for the slightly more expensive Tesco Ozzie Shiraz. This costs £10.87 for a 3 litre box (£2.72/bottle), Buy six boxes to get the 5% off and this drops to £2.58/bottle. This has much less of an after taste. It's also 13% alcohol rather than the 12% of the simple Tesco's Red.

This wine is horrendous and especially introduced by Tescos during its 25% off aussie wine bonanza. I am very sceptical of many supermarket deals with regard to wine especially when wine is advertised heavily discounted that you have never seen before. The cheap australian range at Tescos is poor... I have tried the white, rose and red only the rose is drinkable !!!

I hope the spelling of whine in the OP was deliberate.

It is not fair to say that this wine is not drinkable. Bleach is drinkable if you mad enough to imbibe it and this Tesco's Red is at least as good as....

I've had this and found it was quite allright if you let it breathe before drinking it. In fact we inadvertently left half a bottle open until the next evening and found it was even better. Each to their own.

Sorry, but they have been selling this for years. The pre-discount price is the normal price. I know what you mean about artificially inflating the price for the sales, but this is ok. Not long ago this was selling for under £3 even when it wasn't in the sale. What's happened to wine prices over the last year or so? They've shot up by 25% at least. Just when you could use a drink to help you forget the recession.

I bought a box of that last week, couldn't believe my luck, its been yonks since I seen a decent red(13% proof:p) at that price

It is okay. But the equivalent White which is also the same price is really nice

I bought some of this and asked the missus if she was up for a blind taste test. She agreed and so I blindfolded her and brought out half a glass of this, along with half a glass of something I drained from the cat-litter tray. After drinking both she was definitely favouring Tesco's version so it can't be that bad.

Hmmmm, I can just imagine the reviews down under ........ "More bite than a hungry Dingo"; "Rougher than the wiper in a Queensland dunny"; "This beauty will grow hair on yer tongue"; "Passed by the board of the University of Wollamaloo" etc., etc.

But the "Whine" spelling reminds me of the old Aussie joke "How d'ya know when a jet full of Poms has landed?" - "It keeps whining when the engines stop!" ...... Padre, a prayer
