thanks op ordered a dozen - bargain

the same wine with a McGuigan's label on the bottle it would be at least double the price if not more

cheers! :D
#2
IM NOT A WINE SNOB BUT IS IT NICE ? :)
#3
Also ordered 24. McGuigan's is decent wine. This should be nice for drinking in the garden if we get a decent summer.

Don't forget 3% Top Cashback

Use code XXWJLM for £5 off £50 before 17th April (It pays for the postage).

There are only 2 types of wine in the world: 'Wine you like', and 'wine you don't like'. Nobody can tell another person how to interpret this, but at this price I'd recommend getting some so that you will know for sure.

The XX code didn't work for me but the price is good anyway. Looks like a misprice to me - but fingers crossed. Cheers OP!

happy days 48 bottles for 92 quid delivered.....can always use for cooking !!
#15
Excellent find ordered 24.
Only told the missus yesterday that i'm cutting out the booze.
Maybe until the weekend HAHA.
#16
This was a 2006 tasting , and clearly things could have changed since then with a different year, but with the voucher it is very cheap.

£4.99 2005 Tesco Australian Sauvignon blanc Reserve

With a sauvignon blanc I'd expect to find gooseberry and passion fruit and I'm not getting that. It's got that cheesy, musty smell again, and again it's a screw cap, so should burst out of the glass. It doesn't do that. I'm just getting subdued tropical fruit.

Nearly ordered...then decided not to. There are some rough wines out there and this does not look too special.Tesco trying to shift quick. Careful buying when supermarket deals are on can land you some good wines for around £3.50 a bottle.

Gutted - missed it
#24
Called a friend and they said just about drinkable...so made right decision to cancel..:-)

Great deal but Tesco have listed it as a medium dry.
I have always thought Sauvignon was dry, the word medium puts me off!

Heat anyway great spot.

Don't let so called experts put you off. I once ordered some cut price(under £2 per bottle) Casillero del Diablo wine from Tesco wine...I too was apprehensive because of the low price...but it turned out to be one of the most pleasant wines I had had in a while. But I do agree about the £3.50 ish wines when on offer especially if they have a 25% off offer on at the time also.

snap on the Casillero deal - not a bad drop at all.

Thanks OP for this one, ordered 24 bottles for £46 delivered - £1.92 a bottle, can't complain at that for an Oz Sauv Blanc :)

It's rated as a 2 .. which in most stores is Dry (for Tesco it's very close to 'dry only')

So pleased I ordered!!
#33
Ordered 48 bottles, hope it's OK.

I once ordered some wine from Tesco Wine online and for some reason (can't remember why) I returned some to my local Tesco who took it back and refunded. Worth a shot if you get it and don't like it.
#35
I can't imagine this Tesco Sauvignon is going to be much kop at all. Unless your taste buds don't know any better, or you're the kind of person who chooses wine based on the alcohol % (like my mother!) I think you'd be wasting your money.

I third the casillero del diablo recommendation - it's not a budget wine by any stretch, usually retails around £6.99 (or £6.66 as some clever folk in morrisons priced it one time). If you see it for a few quid, buy a truckload. Well worth the price.

Although for me the best supermarket Sauvignon is Oyster Bay or Crawford Farm. Both are outstandingly tasty.

Best sauvignon I've ever tasted anywhere is "Makutu" (not to be confused with Makutu Bay from Sainsburys). Now that was flippin' lush.

If I'd read that, I'd not be thinking that I must take notice of this expert, but rather 'what a divvi'. I've been drinking wine for years, and though nowhere close to an expert, I get a taste of wine when I drink it, not all that rubbish.

I "thought" I wouldn't get a Humax Freesat PVR for less than £100 from BestBuy... but I did.

You can do a lot of thinking and imagining.

Or you can take a punt and actually try it.

I reckon you should be able to return it if your taste buds rebel.... But I don't mean 'you'... I mean people who bought it.

I'm not questioning the hukd ethos, god knows I've had some serious bargains on this website myself. However I draw the line on these wine deals. £30 is quite a large punt if it turns out to be poor wine. Let's just say I've bought large cases of wine at low prices before. They never, never turn out to be nice. You get what you pay for and all that.
#39
Tasting note was from the Guardian wine correspondent , bought some other cheaper wines from Tesco before Christmas , should have known better , they were poor , but as I said it is very cheap using the voucher and you can try a bottle and return the rest , horses for courses etc , and as someone said you could always cook with it , a lot of cooking required though if you are buying fifty quids worth.

Well mine has arrived. The year is 2008 so hopefully after the newspaper review they improved things. It's a bit early in the day to be testing it just yet.
