What's a "cumber afaik"? :?
#2
AFAIK = As Far As I Know ;-)
#3
up here we get the "Yorkshire" Cucumber...still 50p Though but ours are Larger:w00t:
#4
Why is this such a 'Hot deal'? Woo Hoo save 20p on a cucumber lol
#5
Voted stone cold. In my experience, Tesco's fruit and veg is the poorest in terms of longevity out of Tesco, Morrisons, Asda, M&S and Somerfield. It is clearly not stored correctly in their stores/warehouses and I've had Tesco fruit & veg go off literally in a day (two days if we're lucky). Therefore, not even worth 50p.
#6
This is a nationwide offer as part of the Tesco Fruit & Veg Price pledge whereby every week they have special offers on certain fruit & veg products.
However, when you consider the normal full price of a whole cumcumber is just 59p in lidl, the saving is not so great.
neilmonk - I bought a tesco half cumcumber 6 days ago and it's still good to eat. Perhaps it is you who is storeing the fruit & veg wrong after purchase as opposed to anything Tesco is doing before purchase. Put it this way, if I bought any item of fruit & veg from tesco and it had gone off literally within 24hours (and it was not caused by the way I had stored it) it would be returned for a refund or replacement. You also suggest the cucumber is not even worth 50p - perhaps you could advise where we could buy one for less please?

Because it's a 30%+ saving on the usual price.
This is Hot UK Deals and hence a place for all deals available in the UK to be posted, but just Martio Kart, Wii or various DVD offers.
I will extend the invitation to you as well, if you know where you can purchase a whole cucumber for less that 50p, please feel free to advise :)

Only 29p in Lidl
#9
We stopped buying cucumbers when we invested in a Rabbit

Wouldn't take one if they were free- I hate cucumbers. Disgusting taste makes me feel sick. Never going to be a hot deal for me

Sorry guys but unless you are in need of 100 of these things then I think a posting about A cucumber for 20pence less is really pushing the limits.

Yes it's a bargain and YES it's 30percent cheaper but If I were to post that my local stationery shop was selling elastic bands for 2pence each instead of 4 pence (50% off) would that constitude a HDUK offer worthy of posting too?

I think not.

HDUK will end up as a listing for all of the jumble sales soon.

The differences between the cumcumber and the hypothetical rubber bands is:
1. The Tesco deal is nationwide, so available to all in the UK
2. We are all encouraged to eat more fruit & veg (5 a day) - a cucumber portion can be one of these. This is a whole cucumber, which will constitute more than one portion.
3. This is the cheapest price I can find nationally for a whole cucumber. The lidl offer at 29p each appears to have ended last week at our lidl. As I mentioned, they are now back to full price of 59p each.
So in short, if you know of where to buy cheap elastic bands accross the UK, please feel free to post details in your own thread :)

To the person who hates cucumbers, why on earth even enter thre thread? The title is quite clear as to the offer. Look for offers that you like to meet your 5 a day target (hopefully you like at least five different fruit & veg) but with some peoples comments on this thread it may be difficult to find anything.

Lots of threads on Mario Kart and various DVDs though. Perhaps people here think watching fitness DVDs or exercising their thumbs playing Mario Kart is a good alternative to healthy eating?

My local church jumble sale has available for sale a pair of grey Farah's, well I say a pair but one leg has been ripped of by the vicars dog that was apparently sent mad by being fed on cheap cucumbers from Tesco's, all offers are invited.

I think we are told enough times about "5 a day" by our nanny state goverment without having to hear it from you as well:thumbsup:Heres a radical thought, if the goverment were that concerned about our health the one thing that would make the biggest difference would be to ban cigarettes, will they do it? no, of course not, they earn to much out of them for the Chancellor of the exchequor Mr Darling.

I think there's nothing wrong in posting a good deal, there may be people who do their regular shopping at Morrisons or Asda and if they see enough Tesco offers here, they might decide to go to Tesco's for a change. If someone likes cucumbers, 50p for a Tesco cucumber is a good deal (and I think Tesco's fruit and veg are better than Asda or Lidl and last much longer). So if you don't like to read the deal, skip it and move on to the next one, no point criticizing someone who's put in the effort of posting it! Voted HOT

It's pretty obvious that people are going to change from their preferred supermarkets and convert to Tesco so they can fill their baskets with dirt cheap cucumbers, I apologise for my remarks and stand corrected.

Bring it on! Jumble sales are great.

Whilst this may only save you 20p and people have been quick to jump on the OP there's always a queue of heat added to eBay 10p listing days which appear to save you only 5p (basic listing - you still pay extra for extra pics, gallery option, "buy it now" etc..).

I won't vote on it myself as I'm with anoter poster - cucumber is horrible (taste and smell). It taints everything it touches. Yuk!

But now you're missing the point. If you think a deal is hot you should vote it so. The fact that you don't like cucumbers is comlpetely irrelevant.
I hate Ferraris, but if one was on sale brand new for £5000, although I wouldn't buy it I'd still vote it a hot deal. (ok, so I would buy it but you get my drift!)

This is quite possibly the best deal to appear on this site since it's conception. Thanks so much for this!

lol this is great!

This is the best thread I've read since looking at hot deals over the past week.

Can I add though that you can buy a cucumber plant in your local garden centre for less than a £1.

If cared for it will supply you with about 20 cucumbers over the summer. Much cheaper than 50p per cucumber.

wrong, asda is by far the worse, closely followed by asda.

That is a good idea..
Anyway at the end of the day a reduction in price is "deal" whether its hot or not is decided by the votes and i have no problem with that because the votes are there for a reason.
I a helped someone save some money then i'm happy, because thats what this site is for.
If some people think they can bully others into only posting deals that only interest them then they really need to get job!
Or if they have job, get a hobby so you don't waste your life commenting on things that don't interest you!

Epic Deal this.

Makes an effective (not to mention, cheap) Sextoy.
