For the last 2 years now, Tesco has worked out the cheapest for my car Insurance - but it will be different for everyone, depending on car, circumstances etc, so remember to shop around and price compare.

Its a nice bonus however that you will receive £50 giftcard with your policy, which you can spend instore @ Tesco. Plus new customers in their first year will also get an extra 15% online discount (Subject to minimum premium. Excludes Value Insurance).

Tip: Spend the £50 voucher on fuel, effectively a £50 rebate on your policy.

Not sure if this is all that hot, quidco can sometimes offer a better cash in hand deal.
Although quidco is never guaranteed.
#4
If you're lucky, they'll send you the vouchers twice by accident. That's what happened to me :whistling:

Although, my renewal price this year is almost double what I'm getting quoted on other sites. So it may be a good deal to begin with but look for another insurer the next year.

Sent my vouchers 3 times:-D Paid for the policy - and some!!!

Tesco are certainly not the cheapest for car insurance - far from it. They charge over the odds then give some of it back - to spend at Tesco! Not a good deal I think.
#7
will need to tell the OH about this

Tesco were over £100 more expensive than most quotes I found ( ended up paying £215, tesco wanted £355) but the £50 back is great if they are the cheapest quote you can get - heat added

Oh god, my insurance is another £1000 and a bit on top of yours!

Was miles more expensive for me than eSure who I ended up going with.

Although, saying that, the £45 quidco for eSure still hasnt been paid 9 months afterwards.... So much for 'sureshop'.

God, how is it that expensive? I drive a group 19 insurance car, live in a 'high risk' area, and still only pay £600!
#12
Out of over 50 + quotes Tescos was the third most expensive
#13
Good offer, but expensive insurance. i checked if i had 2 years no claims and it cost the same as what i'm paying for 1 years fully comp with direct line at present

Can someone shed light:

When does the 15% Online discount get applied? Is it at the 'check out' stage or has it already been knocked off when you get your quote?

My Tesco quote is 240 but if there was another 15% to come off and 50 quid back that would effectively bring it down to 154, which would beat the best other quote I've had of 181, does that make sense? :?

avoid tescos insurance of any kind. Always far more expenisve than others.
#16
Nice, just passed my test this morning aswell, and being a 17yr old male insurance prices certainly wont be kind.
#17
Just helped mother-in-law buy 07 punto.

Last year she paid tesco £380 on a w plate 1.1 saxo.

New punto - £220 less possible £45 quidco - shelias wheels.

She had been with tesco 5 years, who simply ripped her off more and more each year!

con artists!

can i get this at 17?

Tesco were the cheapest for my first year of driving at £950, but that was Tesco Value. Probably won't renew with them though as my insurance drops to about £600 for my 2nd year with other companies :)
#22
finally people are seeing that TESCO`s really are a rip off merchant, "every little scam helps"...monopolising gits.

Agreed, so glad I found comparison sites!
#24
I keep hoping Tesco will be good value...but as usual more than twice the price of my current insurer!
#25
go through Cashinco and get some cashback on the price comparison too!
#26
Dreadful customer service and way too expensive. Why use Tesco for something so important as car insurance when they mess up so frequently with less important things like simple grocery deliveries? Go to a decent company. Cold.
#27
I have to disagree

I have always found tesco to be the cheapest by far. I have just done my quote with comparethe market and the cheapest quote I found from them was wait for it £3889.00

Tesco have just quoted me £1,117.20. a massive difference you will agree. Also I get £50 back to spend in tesco and also gain clubcard points so to be its a bargain at that price.

Apparently, tesco do not provide car insurance policy to immigrants who do not have indefinite leave to remain.

It is the only provider I know who've such a pre-requirement.
#29
Ive been with Tesco - had an accident, paid out quickly, no hassle at all.
Moved in with girlfriend, gone on her insurance for "our" car and Tesco best price by far - used comparison websites too.

OP did say that Tesco not cheapest for everyone, but certainly was for me - GREAT DEAL - VOTED HOT

I always do a price comparison when I get my Tesco renewal through to check the cheapest price offered. I then phone Tesco's to cancel my policy and I get transferred to another department who try to match the best quote.

They have always offered me a comparable price + some vouchers (money off, extra clubcard points) just to keep my custom.

I insure 3 cars from a Fiesta to an MPV.

Worth a try ;-)
