What are 'flat' wiper blades? :?
#2
Flat wiper blades are the newer type that are fitted to most modern cars and the ones at Tesco can be fitted to older cars as well due to the adapter kit supplied with them. They do not have the metal frame like the older ones and are supposed to give a better contact with the windscreen.

Could I get these for my Citroen Picasso?

How do I know what ones to get, just measure the length?

Anybody?

Thanks

I've never tried the Tesco ones, but since having flat wiper blades on my last two cars, I could never go back to standard ones.
They work so much better.

Top deal and very hot!

I bought the flat blades for £8.00 each two months ago and they are very good.
As for what they will fit, well they come with "multi" adapters that will fit most cars. These are very very easy to fit and should take less than a minute to change.

If your not sure on size, then just measure what you have on yours now and replace like for like.
Just to say that some cars have different size wipers on either side eg 22" on the drivers side but 19" on passenger side so donot worry if this your first time replacing your wipers and you think that they should be the same on either side!

Well I'm off to Tesco in the morning to pick a couple more for my spares and a MOT due very soon:thumbsup:

EDIT: found a piccy so you know what they look like and what adapters you get...

which will also sell you blades too!! Good prices on Galaxy/Sharan/Alhambra blades which can cost upto £50 a set from main dealer or Halfords - outrageous!

are the standard ones any good? Wilkinsons do one for £1.50

Windscreen wipers are a vital component on your car, buying cheap ones won't do you any favours in the long run!

The Wilkinsons own brand green packet. Can't remember price, (was cheap) the fittings are a bit crapp also.

Good wipe but squeaky maybe its my car.

Is the Tesco's offer still on?

Is the Tesco's offer still on?

I had a look a few days back and I think the shelf label said the offer ends either on the 1st or the 8th of July (can't remember which it was - but it was definitely a July date ;-)).

I had a look and the offer expires on the 8th July! So get in there quick!

I bought two flat wipers. I just fitted them and it was odd that the wiper spoiler appeared to be backwards?

The wiper spoiler is kind of L shapped, and Initially was positioned like:
Windscreen _| Front of car

But I managed to change the mount around so that it was more like:
Windscreen |_ Front of car

Bought today the offer ends tomorrow 8th. Can't wait to try them, hopefully it includes the adapter for my car.

May finally get rid of the squeaking!!

Oh my driver’s side is 21in bought 20in, shouldn't make hardly any difference. Just buy the size nearest.

I don't know. I was wondering if anyone else knew.
Out of the box they seemed less aerodynamic to me, and backwards.
I thought the L shape wiper spoiler should point forward to aid aerodynamics and to push the wiper down to the windscreen?

My driver side is 21" so I bought 22" which gives me an extra half an inch at the top and bottom.
For those who don't know, the wipers come in sizes every 2 inches.

Don't know haven't fitted mine yet...

I may have done this before and it was too close to the edge of the screen... Can't remember but if you have the space also a good idea.

Ripoff again, just compare the price of the bosch ones. Even @ £8 its a bargain assuming it does what it says on the tin.

Still squeaks!!! :?

Thankfully I didn't have to muck around with the plastic fittings, just put it on the arm click, well after a few minutes. Does the blade have to be a particular side can't see any markings to state so.

Those instructions are not all that either!

So back to square 1, good wipe, & squeak! Haven't tried it on the other car yet. Probably same story. :-(

Just bought my pair and had to take the mounting block (the one fitted when you buy it) off of the blade and turn it around to remedy the backward spoiler. Needed some superglue to put the mounting block back on as it doesn't have the clip for the other side to keep the block in place when reversed.

They work a treat, although I did clean the windscreen and put RainX on earlier so that probably helped a bit.

I'm glad someone agrees with me! (see my previous posts)

I did wonder why the mounting block didn't seem to click securely when reversed - I'd better check/use superglue else they may fling off when on the fast wiper setting :p

I'd recommend replacing wind screen to cure the squeaking problem! :p

You're right about the instructions, they aren't that good.
The blades don't seem to have a particular side, but like I said the spoiler for some reason seems to be backwards - do foreign cars have the wiper blades reversed (wipe right to left)?
#26
i've just bought these. my dad has just been replacing mine, got annoyed because they were backwards so we googled for a solution and found this post. after reading about glue-ing gave him the idea to just change the spoilers around :D and it worked so thank you!

These wipers were £1.50 for regular and £3.50 for the flat type when i bought a pair last week.

I had read lots of bad reviews on the Tesco flat type ( from a previous post on here) , so bought the regular type.
I have had the Tesco blades before and they are not ok , but don't last very long. In fact even the metal frame rusted on my last pair ( never ever had this on any wiper blades before).
