I thought collect from store was an extra fiver....

Nice one!

I very much doubt this comes with the bricks
looks like there are over 90 bricks, at around 30p each that's £27 alone

Above from tesco site, got to be a mistake?, still if you want one should get a few quid off when they do not deliver the bricks.Could phone up and tell them you did not notice at delivery that the bricks were missing:)
#8
defiantly a mistake, I think it should say 'needs bricks and mortar'

And just to be picky, the picture is showing paving blocks, the ones you put on your drive, and not bricks.

Hot if it does come with the bricks, but I wouldn't want over a hundred bricks in the boot of my car :?

well whoever does order it first do let the rest of us know!

It's in the new catalogue I picked up Saturday, page 37, & it says "Bricks not included".

Hi all.

I have recently just bought the BBQ from Tesco direct. It came without bricks. We phoned up and said there were no bricks in the delivery. The woman we spoke to just looked on the same web page as us casue she said there should have been bricks. They collected the original one and sent out a new one aparently to include the missing bricks. It got delivered and there were no bricks again.

Phoned Tesco back and the guy we spoke did some digging and there are no bricks or mortar included. It is an incorrect description on the website. They refunded us the 20 quid to put it towards the bricks. this was on the 11th of March. Got the money in my bank on the 12th.

To build the BBQ you need 96 bricks, and they are going for 29 pence each in BandQ at the mo.

Did I order it from the catalogue? No! When collecting from store and there's no bricks, am I going to accept it? No! Do I like your stroppy 13 year-old attitude? No!!!

Though it will be quite funny if/when I have to lug everything to the car if the deal is a good 'un.:-D

You obviously realise there's no bricks as you say you aren't going to accept it, so what's the point, seems a bit juvenile to me!!

I was hoping it was a legit deal (albeit misprice maybe) but Extrajohn has confirmed that I won't be getting any bricks. I don't know if I can be @rsed now to try it on but I have no qualms about it especially knowing they've been made aware of the wrong description.

Well I have ordered it & if it does not come with bricks & mortar etc then it will be an e-mail again to Tesco Direct with another complaint.

Just had £20 refunded from the Keter Plastic bench deal as delivery driver delivered at 6:52am.

Delivery times stated 8-6pm.

Sent off an extra long e-mail with my complaint with what I expected as compensation & received the £20 refund onto my bank card ( 1 of 4 choices given )

Received refund with no hassle at all.

Have now noticed though they have changed delivery times to 7am - 7pm from 8am - 6pm, so watch out .

Have had text now, My BBQ is coming between 12 noon & 3pm today ( Tues 16 March 2010 )
I'm looking forward to see the delivery driver carrying all that bricks & mortar into the house! LOL

I have my complaint e-mail all ready & waiting to be sent. Compensation looking for 96 bricks & 1 very big bag of mortar!

Received today 16/03/210 As posted no bricks or mortar. Signed drivers thingy m bob, incomplete item, no signature given.
Have now sent e-mail off to Tesco Direct, will await phone call or e-mail.
I ask for the bricks & mortar to be delivered or for them to give me the money to purchase the bricks & mortar from B & Q, prices given.
Once they have decided on which one, then they could choose my compensation re the hassle etc. Given them 5 options to choose from.

Watch this space as they say

Best of luck with that then, :whistling:

If I were you I'd expect just the grills & fixings again but I do hope I'm proved wrong!

I'm still waiting for a reply to my sent e-mail or a phone call.

Will update once this happens.

Received phone call 5mins ago, they are going to investigate this item & what it comes with, told guy I expect my bricks & mortar to be delivered as website stated & if not going to supply it then they must give me the money to purchase the 100 bricks & mortar from B&Q with petrol costs & compensation to boot.

He said he would phone me back later today.

Watch out Tesco have now changed description.

£19.79 without bricks & mortar.

Tesco DIY barbecue grill is made from steel. Cooking area L63xW442cm. Bricks not included.

Instead of including bricks & mortar.

Have not changed feature of product though:
Features of Product DIY with bricks and mortar replacement grill set

But repeat now saying no bricks or mortar in description but in feature tab saying bricks & mortar included in my opinion.

Just looked again and yes they have changed the description (but not the features) how exactly is it a DIY bbq when it doesn't contain everything that's required?

Madness - glad I took a screenshot yesterday

Hi again,

Waited all day for Liam to phone me back from Tesco direct. ( 18:37 )

He confirmed the BBQ did not come with bricks or mortar & that it was a mistake on the website. I said mistake or not was Tesco direct going to honour it?

He said no & pointed out it had been changed o0n the website. I pointed out it also had been changed earlier in the day but only in the description & not the feature. He said the feature would be changed tomorrow sometime.

I said waste of time selling grills etc for a BBQ when you have no bricks or mortar.

I pressed him again to honour the bricks & mortar either from Tesco Direct or give me the credit to get them from b & Q.

He again said no.

He asked if I wanted to keep the grills etc, I just laughed & said what the hell would I do with them now.

He then said he would get them picked up by courier & refund me my money ( £24.75 ) onto my card on return of the grills to Tersc direct.

So I went on & said, so where is my compensation for the hassle, item incomplete, time of writing e-mails, staying in for delivery & return of grills.

He said there would be no compensation for human error! I said that's just so lame in my book & it's no way to run a business!

I continued to say that Tesco Direct were getting a kicking on the forums for this particular item in which was giving them a bad name & also the forum thread was being forwarded to Argos, Asda, Morrison's, etc so they could have a laugh at it.

That must have hit a raw note as he then changed his tune & said he would speak to his manager & get back to me in 5 mins.

3 mins later he's on the phone asking about the forums & wondering if I would forward the thread etc. I said no can do as everyone is entitled to there opinion & in doing this would breach everyone's right in posting about companies & thier experiences.

Not amused to say the least, LOL

Anyway onto my compensation, I am going to receive by post in approx 3 days a £10 voucher with no min spend, not bad for a few e-mails & using there time & money to gab on the phone, pity though about the whole BBQ, bricks & mortar thing, I really, really wanted it! :)

So to all who purchased this BBQ, get writing an e-mail & force them to give you compensation for all your hassle, loss of interest on yer money you paid out, taking day off to wait for delivery, taking day off to wait for return delivery, etc.

Best of luck to you all.

I'm happy enough with my £10 voucher. :)

Hi again,

Just to let you all know that I received my £10 Tesco Direct Voucher card in the post this morning with an apology re the BBQ deal.

I'm happy enough now except for losing out on a great build your own BBQ with bricks & mortar.

Well, well you can't win them all, but every little helps, Well so Tesco say anyway, :giggle::giggle:

Just now waiting for my full refund including delivery charge to go back on my Credit Card.
