Just popped into Tesco and noticed they had reduced the dry cured ham on the bone to half price. I picked one priced at £13.00 added it to my basket with my other shopping. After going through the checkout I looked at my receipt. and I noticed that I received a discount of £15 on the ham. This means they payed me £2.00 to take it away.

I went back and bought one for my mother and father.

it's funny how this phrase has become an internet-associated term - it sounded odd when I first read it as you were talking about an in-store purchase... sometimes it's easy to forget that real-world bargains were once the only hot deals around!
#5
are you sure the £15 was not off the real price of the ham? thus making it the price it was marked down to
#6
Yeah!!! Happy Dayz!
#7
i bought one in tesco last night before reading this post, for £8 at the checkout
my bill was under £15 so they would have to give me 43p the checkout op called the supervisor
but didn't let me have the discount. if you buy one of these make sure you buy one with your weekly shop
then you will get away with it.

Yeah just load up with about 100 hams and make 200 quid profit :D

I've just been into Tesco and the original post is incorrect. There's a fifteen pound discount off the price of the ham, but no further discount, hence the ham costs ten pounds.

Tesco made this mistake before xmas we all got free gammon ham on the bone  so it does seem strange that tesco have made the same mistake again you may be right.

Just be careful - Tesco "Finest" doesn't produce the same deal. I have just bought one from Exeter, originally marked at £24, went through at £9. I'm still happy with the price I paid though.

The ham I bought was dry cured and packed in a box.
The two I bought had an original total price of £52.20 knocked down to half price £26.10. then I got £30 back. They payed me £3.90 to take them away.

I don't know if you get £30 if you take 2 to the checkout I did 2 separate transactions, each with a £15 discount. :)

I got this to!!!! Bought one of the dry cured hams last night reduced to £2.51, and it took £15 off my total bill, was very pleased.

I'm happy to be proved wrong.

The ham I took to the checkout was the only bone-in ham they had in stock, which was from the "Finest" range, and I didn't get the discount mentioned in the original post. (So it could well be me who's mistaken.)

Just been to Tesco Shoreham By Sea. Could not find it anywhere, asked asisstant and was told that they only sell ham on the bone at Christmas. Better luck next time.

I just did exactly the same thing. Read the deal, thought 'too bad I don't shop at Tesco online, I'm actually getting ready to take a walk out to a real Tesco' then realised that's what was being talked about! Will keep an eye out for this while I'm there!

This also works on cooked sliced ham!
I have just been to Tesco and brought two packs of honey roast sliced ham.
The offer says 2 for £3 and I got £3 back. No profit but a couple of freebees!
#29
awesome.
Even with £15 off the ham I would vote this hot. I love hams
#30
couldn't find any in Tesco in Cov. then I forgot to pick up a bag I had paid for in the self serve and had to drive back to get it!
#31
None in my Port Talbot store either, obviously the slight mention of snow has caused people to run out in their droves and blitz the shelves! :santa:

anyone had any luck today? Tempted to try but don't really need to but any other bits so would rather know for def if its gonna work
#34
I would also like to know if they have fixed this mistake yet? Will have a look if they have any left later anyway.

I tried this yesterday. Checked the bill after walking away from the till and noticed I was charged £26 for the ham and then £15 was taken off the bill at the end thus making it £11. I didn't really want to have the ham for £11 so took it straight to customer services for a refund. They refunded me £26 so I made £15 LOL. Thanks TESCO
#36
It seems to take £15 off now regardless of the cost of meat.

Tesco always seem to refund the original price in error, has happened to me a couple times :P

When they scan it for refunds it just shows the original price and they dont seem to know how to minus the discounts.
