I have a couple of others that I use for security and they work with no problem apart from some people may have difficulty reading the smaller displays.

This might be a reason why they're being reduced:

"at least 5 of the twenty of these I purchased have malfunctioned and have now stopped working" [Reevo comment]

I read it as a rechargeable battery is included. Perhaps someone who has got one already can confirm.

Looks like you don't understand what a timer is. Its not for meter usage. It brings lights etc on automatically and switches them off. It has a rechargable battery in case of power failure to keep its settings. Great buy at £2.40. I have two and have no complaints. What do you want for the price??

Is the battery accessible as my other ones are all internal, but the description on the Tesco site reads like the battery is a separate entity? So long as it charges from the unit it doesn't really matter and might even be useful if you can change as one of my others is useless because of internal battery failure.

I couldn't understand the meter comment fully either and suspect you would be pressed to find a mechanical one for this price.
