This is a heads up for anyone near enough to benefit. Tesco Express Esso in Ongar currently priced Petrol 112.9 and Diesel 116.9.

It's been cheap there for a while due to a local price war, but just dropped stupidly low.

Manager turns up every day to make sure they undercut the local BP... Be giving it away soon :P

Edit: Both now at 109p.

Tesco charge as much as they can get away with locally, it would be a lot more if the BP garage were charging more.

I can guarantee that my local Tesco will be charging a lot more than this price.:(

Folks... you gotta realise oil prices have come down a lot and this price is pretty much the going rate for petrol in the UK at the moment
#7
95/6.9 diesel with their 20p off coupon sweet.

I wish that was true. come to Sheffield. All are a lot more expensive unless you go to crystal peaks asda. I filled up a hire van at 1.20.9 for diesel on Thursday at Morrisons. That is a rip off. I expect 9th to be round the corner for some of the country before the end of the year. .. but not in Sheffield.

Only 110p unleaded in Boston for quite a few days now! Although that is almost every petrol station apart from Tesco's who are always more expensive than others around here.

ASDA cut the price of unleaded nationwide on the 17th to £1.10. Most other retailers have followed near me including Shell and BP, so £1.12 is actually higher than it should be. I believe another price cut is being announced soon. Every report I have read says it will most likely be around £1.05 as we enter January.

The prices in the OP are over 2 weeks old. Petrol & Diesel are BOTH now down to 109p at the same place. Diesel for 109p is the cheapest I've seen by a margin (so far). The OP was meant as a heads up and to say if you can get there it will always be cheap (or cheapest) relatively.

Almost guaranteed to get cheaper though like you say.

seen it £107.7 at a garage at a Harvest energy garage at the Maypole in Birmingham
#16
109.7 at Asda Aberdeen too

Drove past the BP Garage at Ongar on Monday and had to take a double look. Couldn't believe how low the price was.

finally something to offset living near a secret nuclear bunker....

The forecourts are currently making a small fortune on fuel, not sure about petrol but Esso diesel was being bought last Friday evening for £1.09.5 and was on sale for £1.19

do you get points deal on too??

should be about 80p a litre if it drop`s inline with oil prices !
#22
Are you lot having a laugh? All the petrol stations in my area are 120.9 for diesel. It's grim down South
#23
Agree
It should drop way below the £1 marking.

Would love to hear how you can work that out , the pricing mechanism for fuel is dictated by many things and the raw crude oil price is only one part of it , with fuel duty at approx 59p per litre and Vat at 20% without even looking at refinery ,distribution, and overhead costs .... there is very little chance of reaching your 80p figure

Good price heat added!
