Damn, was in there at lunch and didn't spot this! May go back after work, cheers.

These are a great deal - but no use for me as I hate melted cheese on my food! So voted hot from me...

BUT....

Why can' they include the Cottage Pie which is about the only main that doesn't include cheese?!?
#3
Yeah our store used to have it on one of the ends, but the last day I was in I am sure it is now (well certainly the finest* one) was just at a special section in the ready meals aisle.

Just in case it's useful for anyone, I've tried two of these meals. The meatballs are very average, but the Chicken, Cheese & Bacon Pasta Bake was a bit better.

Still, for a fiver you could hardly complain! The meal deal is ace when you've had a long day at work and can't be bothered to cook. :)

Never been aware of this or the £9 offer EVER ending. Has been on every time that I have been in Tesco and not fancied doing the cooking.

Overall, it's a good deal but certainly not a new one and the same can be said about the Finest one at £9.

Never said either deal was "new", in terms of the idea but they go through spells of promoting these deals, and the products that are involved in them vary over time.

This one did go off for a week or so I think - as I think they were only doing the main + side for £5 which isn't as good value. It also isn't always you can get it online, as I looked last weekend and couldn't see it.

And you know this how?? Have you looked at the nutritional analysis for each of the main meals alone?

What makes a 'bake' a problem with unhealthyness? You do realise a 'bake' typicaly just derives as an oven cook, right?

Its different meals if you look properly. Garlic bread etc might be the same... but all the meals differ each time. I know this as I manage the manufacture of each of these meals!

To pick up on the unhealthy point, I think everything has its place in moderation. I don't eat a lot of ready meals or junk food, but once every month saying - thats a good deal I'll give it a go for easiness - in my opinion is okay.

'Ready meals' and the name it carries, get bad press... however these are more 'convenience foods'. The salt content is minimum, and the saturated fat levels are as low as possible. No MSG's permitted. Fibre is high, energy is average. At the end of the day, its all 60% pasta, 30% sauce, 10% protein (if any)... so you could easily sustain a diet on these foods.

However, we also make the Healthy Choices, and Weightwatchers retort meals.. (which are also on promotion in Tesco right now)

We had the pasta, chicken and bacon dish tonight it was lovely Mmmmm.
The good thing about this Tesco Deal is it feeds 4 not 2.

KrispiiDuck - They did have Cottage Pie in My Tesco.

Will certainly be buying this deal again.

unfortunately, makes no odds. No commission for me lol.

But all sales help in the long run i suppose. Keeps us busy. Best seller by far is the Meat Las on this offer, followed by the Meatball Bake.

anyone know how long this deal is on?

Last word from Tesco (today)....

This week is the last week of Tesco's promotional period with Light Choices Spaghetti and Meatballs performing strongly throughout the period. Family Favourites and the ‘Serves 1’ - ‘3 for £5’ have also delivered throughout the period and will carry on into the next promotional period.

... So you have a few weeks yet.

I must say the more expensive 'Finest' deal is utter turd as the wine is crap and that is basically the item you get free, plus they have very limited items on at any one time.

But this is much better - the chicken, bacon pasta I have tried in the past and it was decent enough for a ready meal so for a fiver to feed me, the missus and the kiddo is a bargain!
#25
These are fantastic value. We've had them a few times after a busy day at work. The chilli wedges are the best!

Have to disagree about the wine. It is always better than Marks's deal. Here is latest offering.

Lol, so I suspect you know a tad more about them than us!

TBH the slaggers off could do so about any ready meal, as what they're saying applies to all (which makes it kinda pointless). Its a bit like the organics brigade in the chicken threads, nobody gives a toss but they need to stick their oar in anyway.

Its a meal, its a fiver, it feeds four. Not sure what else is important? Try it, if you don't like it just don't buy it again. You've lost a lot less than comparable deals.
