Found in Tesco Extra Walkden, plenty left, obviously not going to be in every single store nationally but keep an eye out if you are after one!

Pretty sure it was this one... http://www.tesco.com/direct/tesco-fibre-glass-axe/213-1973.prd

Did you go out intentionally looking for an axe?

Haha no, didn't even buy one, had to resist the urge of buying one just beacuse it was cheap. I'd have gotten home thinking what the HELL am I going to do with this axe now.

EDIT: Damn it forgot about the zombies!

Just for the portmanteau, Fibreglaxe, I'm in.:)

I got one a few weeks ago for £2 ... fuming now ;)

BTW it does need to be sharpened, otherwise it won't go through wood let alone anything else.

Not so good for the chickens though

There is a Rubber Mallet available too. I think it is £1.25. Looks good but a bit smelly in the back of the van!

Managed to break 2 axes last summer, one wood one plastic, both times the head snapped off on a hard swing and bounced off the wood I was chopping, creating one of those "well that could have been dangerous" moments where you realise if it has bounced off toward your body you would be in serious pain. Admittedly the wood I was chopping was too big for the axe.

Just remember that small axes like this dont chop big pieces of wood, better for splitting kindling. Wouldn't want a HUKDeath on our hands :)

Its probably what'll be falling on the chief executive's neck based on the lastest profit warning.

I wouldn't have thought that an axe was the best way to cut fibreglass X)

Although Tesco call it an axe. I would call it a hatchet as it is single handed

Bit short for zombies.
Ok as a back up if you loose the crowbar.

Voted cold. When the zombies attack you'll be much better off with a good lawn edger. Buy one now - before it's too late...

I'm quite partial to the occasional axe wound.

For when the zombies attack, this would certainly make a good addition to the arsenal.

Sounds like you were using a felling axe to chop the wood; you need to be using a log splitting maul. Felling axes are only for felling trees, log splitting mauls are for...... (well, you understand.)

Considering that eBay and PayPal take about 20% at the end after the fees, he might just turn the axe on himself when he realises how much of a loss he's made at £1.10...

Could make a good burglar deterrant too. I know a lot of people buy baseball bats etc in case some fool decides to break into their house during the night but for just over a quid this would be handy to keep under the bed just in case it ever happened. X)

If he puts them on Fleabay as a "Chopper" he'll make an even HUGHER killing as all the girls queue up to buy them!

This wouldn't surprise me, an axe is an axe is an axe to these untrained eyes. The TV cabinet didn't nearly kill me when I took it apart with a potato peeler tho.

OK...I have made the mistakes before ringing round all the hardware stores in Yorkshire for a "glass hammer" at the DH's request.....and amusement ...I am not going to be fooled into telling him I can get a fibreglass hammer for £1.00 :p
