Still expensive!

If you call Moonflake you can get 25kg delivered for £22. Yes lots of porridge but you'll not need to buy any more for a year or so!

Great deal! Have been £1.49 and these are the best oats on the market! Nice and chunky. Will go and stock up. Thanks to op.

Some nice extra flavour in the form of weevils by the time you get to the bottom of the bag, I should think!

Weevils are good protein! ;)

Seriously though, porridge is fantastic stuff. I eat it all year round, not just when it gets a bit chilly outside.

How large are the Tesco boxes?, better than quaker and scotts?

Try the Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Oats, imho far superior to Tesco Finest, Scott Traditional, or Jordans conservation grade.

Thanks, will stock up on a few boxes, since I have 1 box of Scott's left. The boxes of Scott's I bought recently seem to taste a bit funny compared to the ones I bought before.

Tesco 'Finest' Porridge Oats!? Surely porridge oats are just porridge oats!? :P

The regular price was £1 for months, so well done Tesco for raising the price to £1.49 just so they could reduce the price by a whole third as a supposed "offer".

Note really. The bags of oats are well sealed, if you keep the oats well sealed they should last a long time.

I bought some Mornflake oats recently (Mornflake Superfast Oats (2Kg) £1.49 in Tesco (7.5p/100g)) and best before on the bag says September 2011. So if you stock up this much the oats should be OK.

And as I've pointed out the oats should be OK anyway if they are well sealed.

Mind you, I hear they are going to stop best befores and sell by dates in the sometime near future. I believe best before/sell by dates are only a precautionary measure anyway.

Best stock up on porridge, soup, bread, milk, cheese etc before we are all stranded when the snow arrives.

Sainsburys do a nice oats product too. I also like the one they do with bran added.

But to be honest, although I find that you can tell the difference in taste/texture a little, I enjoy eating asda smart price as much as the premium ones. Oats are indeed oats at the end of the day.

Moonflake or MoRnflake? Can't find a Moonflake anywhere online, in order to get a telephone number...help? :-)

Correct spelling is Mornflake. ASDA sells Mornflake Superfast Oats for £1.58 if ou can't get them in Tesco. Tesco's around by me never appear to sell them.
