Sounds very interesting as it is a very good wine. Unfortunately I can't make head or tail of the mathematics you gave?

All wine in Tesco is 25% off - so I guess you can make a whole bunch of other threads now.
#5
Their is also a Red Finest Wine and another couple of White Finest Wines in the same 2 for £10 offer.

Only some Tesco Finest Wines have the 2 for £10 deal at the same time + the 25% is being taken off the original price and not the reduced price! Why so negative?

Its a 25% disc off the original selling price, hence 25% of 6 x £7.49 = £11.23 then deducted from £30!

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to suggest you needed to prove it, I do believe you I just didn't follow the numbers. I think I do now, the £14.94 threw me I think.

Heat added, thanks for this.

Tesco Finest (not that they're particularly good) irrespective, all wines whether on existing offer or otherwise have 25% off.

I guess I'm being negative because there have already been other similar deals posted, like when other retailers have a sale, the usual suspects post about 15 different 'offers' from the sale everyone already knew was on.
#10
I think this a good glitch if the 25% comes off the original price, some people are never happy.
£3.13 is a good price for this type of wine, it might not be great wine but definitely drinkable.
#11
Agreed, it's a good deal!!!

I just got a couple of bottles of Tesco Finest Shiraz as part of a mixed 6, £7.99 but 2 for a tenner, 25% off the price for one (£7.99) not the price for one in 2 for £10 (a fiver).

My total spend was £41 and I paid £19 after both deals came off. I'm very grateful to the OP. If you aren't, don't buy any!

Thanks OP!

After reading your post I rushed out to Tescos in Camberley. I got 12 bottles of the Finest Shiraz & 2 of the Finest Chardonnay (it was all they had including what was 'out the back'). The 'normal' price would have worked out to 14 x £7.99 = £127.84. The actual price, after a whopping £79.80 of discount, was £48.04 or £3.00 per bottle. I also got a jar of coffee to get it up over £50.00 in order to get 5p/litre off my petrol next time I fill the car. That's gives me an extra £1.60 discount (it's only a small car) so about an extra 11p/bottle. This drops the overall price to £2.89/bottle. I know some would say this wine's never going to be truly worth £7.99 a bottle in the first place but even so, I'd say that's a result!!!

A few weeks ago, when Tescos last did their 25% off wine offer, I picked up about 17 x 3 litre boxes of Tescos Californian Red which worked out at the equivalent of £1.87/bottle. I will use this as my cheap everyday wine and keep the £2.89 stuff for special occasions!

Again, very many thanks OP!

Thanks for posting .Voted hot.

I just opened a bottle of the Shiraz. My first impression is this is okay-ish rather than 'finest' quality wine. This is a 2009 Argentinian Shiraz so it's quite young. There's a nice bouquet there but it's barely detectable yet (this might improve on standing). Taste-wise it's smooth & soft but lacking any wow-factor. However I have no regrets. At £2.89/bottle this stuff is mega-cheap and maybe expecting marvellous wine is perhaps a bit much. My recommendation is buy it but don't expect too much from it.

Wow, that's a lot of wine. Do you have a cellar? :D
#16
I don't have a cellar but I do have a garage! I think there must be about 200 bottles worth there. I live in constant fear of running out!!!

I’d be worried also if I only had a 60 day supply (*).

It will work, the 25% gets taken off on delivery and wont show on your order to start with, on deliveries upto the 7th November.

25% off Terms from Tesco website

It does state this when you click and read the 25% offer banner online

Quote:
25% off ALL Wine & Champagne when you buy 6 bottles or more. Valid on orders delivered between 29th Oct and 7th Nov inclusive. Discount applied when your wine is delivered.

So you will get it for the same price if you order online, however it wont show the 25% + reduced price until you get your invoice with the actual delivery.

If Online, This is Tesco Groceries you need to order on and not Tesco wines, just so you know

Maybe it is possible to applay the XXKMJX voucher (spend £60 or over on groceries and get £6 off your order)

Can confirm that code XXAFFT gives £10 off £50 first groceries order and works on just wine alone + £5 Quidco for first order.

So Oz Clarke has finally seen the light and become an HUKD member !!!
#30
I disagree. There IS a point to buying it just because it's cheap! Taste and general 'niceness' is secondary. Ask any dedicated alky!!

Great find, hot!

Oz Clarke - my hero!

Oh, and is it just me who wonders what Jilly Goolden must be like in bed?
#33
To add to this a bit just picked up 6 x Oceans Edge Marlbrough Sav Blanc at 3.33 a bottle after 25% discount. That wine is on half price at moment so 9.30 bottle for 3.33 :-) Have had the same offer previously.
#34
I can find little in the way of reviews for these wines... is the red any good?

- Thanks OP. If anyone is interested I got 6 Oxford Landing Sauvignon Blanc for the cheapest I've ever bought it - £3.75 per bottle.
- Originally £6.99 per bottle, reduced to £4.99 & then take the 25% off.
- I think all the other Oxford Landing wines will work out the same.
#37
Oh, and is it just me who wonders what Jilly Goolden must be like in bed?

Smooth, yet lively and robust, with a pernicious bouquet. Lively on the tongue, yet with a melting finish.
Would improve if laid down.

LOL! I was thinking that if just sniffing a relatively ordinary glass of plonk can send her into wave after wave of orgasmic rapture, what's she like at the moment of ultimate pleasure??

Thinking about this, if she's like most women, the answer is most likely... bored!

Not quite as cheap as you think Joe, 14 x £7.99 = £111.86 and £48.04 total cost is £3.43 each, so best for 'very' special occasions. Thanks for the comments on the wine.

The price matchs Asda in their 3 for £10 where I spent £80 and they suggested I saved £94 on the rec. price.

Christmas comes early. ;-)
#40
Sorry Woodview. My maths was both wrong and right. I got 14 (not 12) bottles of Shiraz and 2 bottles of the Chardonnay. 16 x £7.99 is indeed £127.84 and it does work out out at £3.00 a bottle (or £2.89 if you add in the petrol discount).

Sadly this is what happens when you retire. First the brain goes and then you start having fantasies about Jill Goolden!
