These are the retro fit tesco branded flat wiper blades.

Made from metal and rubber and comes complete with 5 adapters for universal use.

I always replace mine with bosch ones, but as I'm a bit skint at the moment, thought I'd try these out being only £3 each. It fitted very easily, on testing the performance of the wipe, it's give a clear swipe, and doesn't leave any streaks.

Mixed reviews on the net, but I think it's great value if it last a year or so.

Sizes available; 18", 19", 20", 22", 24"

There were also the old style ones for £1.50 each.

I've used the 24" version of these for over a year now and find them very good. You don't get any smears or lines at all. I'll certainly be going to Tescos today to get some spares at this price.

What I do recommend to anyone that buys these, or pretty much any other wiper blade is, before replacing your blade because you think it's gone, clean the edge surface with some vinegar and you'll be surprised how it rejuvenates them.

Is that from experience? And was it the Tesco ones or just some flat ones? I've just received some flat ones from Ebay - presumably the manfucturer makes a difference as to how long they last.

These have been posted before, and do indeed sound like a good buy. I don't go to Tesco often, as I cant' stand the place, but on the last half a dozen visits there I always head straight to the display and find nothing but spaces and the odd 11" size pack. Too popular it seems :-(
#7
They've been £3 for a while now (at least 6 months) in the Oldham stores. I think the 24" blade is £1.46 if memory serves me correct too.
#8
These are instore as well we bought some yesterday. They were normal price last week in the same store....

I fitted a set of regular tesco metal framed wipers in February, and the paint is flaking off them already to reveal rust below, they clear the screen well enough. But within 4 months the black covering turned grey and is now falling off.
#10
thanks, will be needing some new ones soon :)

I've had some of these for about 6 months.

They started off great but are now really crap, am looking to replace them again.

:x

There is a reason these are cheap. They are crap. I supposed for this money they are better value than others so voted hot, but be prepared to be dissapointed
#14
I bought two of these about 6 months ago (24" and 22") - the 24" seemed to be too long for the tension in the blade and would lift off the screen at speed and wobble a touch - the 22" blade was better. Possibly a reason why they're much cheaper than those recommended by the likes of AutoExpress, etc.

I'm now using the conventional blades from Tesco which were about £1.49 each and which seem to be at least as good to me - I definitely prefer them these newer style.

Both seem good value for money compared to the £20 a set bosch I used to buy from Halfords or online.

I too bought a pair of Bosch for about £20 and they were crap from day one, seems like really hard rubber certainly won`t buy that brand again....ever!.

11" wiper blades, you must have the smallest car in the world, they're like 20" long on my volvo!
#17
for the price i wont be complaining if i can get my hands on them
#18
The one's I bought were naff. Didn't hug the windscreen at all. I had to replace them after a couple of months. Not worth the bother. Traditional wipers are shaped like they are for a reason. I'll be sticking with traditional.
#19
yes had these before. you get for what you pay for
#20
Never got any in when i go in to get some. Wil try today though again :)

No... they were the only ones they ever have in. The commopn sizes are always missing
I need 19" & 24"

I have been using the tesco ones on passenger side and rear for about 8 months and have to say they are better than bosch without a doubt.
Anyone know where i can gt a cheap but decent 26". for drivers side
#23
Cheapest place I have found for quality aero blades (Which my car came fitted with from the factory) is actually the dealer (Honest) at £16 a set. They are by far the best value I have come across for them
#24
These are not very good at all on a Vectra C, other cars they may work better but not very good on the Vec C
#25
I got some cheapo Tesco wipers, dont think they are the same as this, and the metal has started to come out on the end and scratches my window, wouldnt buy again.
#26
These Aero style blade as simply hype from my experience. :x

They still produce lines when wiping the screen like any wipers after use.

I've read elsewhere that some cars have had the wiper motors fail due to increased resistance/weight when using Aero blades - I'm happy with the regular frame style blades

Anyone know if these fit a Astra H ? Astra 2004+ that is

Cheers,

Mike

voted cold ... lift off the windscreen when going fast
#29
split in 3 weeks took em back the 2nd pair wouldnt stop squeaking, the design is good but u need a better make.
#30
they are good as a temporary fix for that price..... i used tescos own brand previously and got 6 months use before the paint flaked off, the wipers rusted, and the rubber came off.

personally i would spend more now on a decent set of wipers, but for £3 what do you expect

I bought the Auto Express recommended ones after quite a search, after buying Bosch for several years from German & Swedish.
AE recommended ones were rubbish and I'll stick to Bosch & G&S competitive prices in future.
#32
I've always used Bosch too and got these from Tescos a couple of Sundays ago. They are great and worked a treat. £3 a pair too. You can pay more and get better quality but its a WIPER BLADE for crying out loud. Its as good as a Bosch if it does the job.
#33
Sorry but I found these were rubbish.

Bought a pair last year when these were half price. Worked well at first but after short while they started to get too noisy. More of a groan than a squeak! Also the blade had uneven contact with the windscreen, so didn't give best of wipes. Worse at speed when they wanted to take off.

Gave up on them and bought a pair of Bosch blades. Not worn or ripped but the noise was dreadful.
Wow, forgot how quiet and smooth wiper blades can actually be.

I remember reading on the packaging words to the effect 'as good as the leading brand' and thought I'd give it a try. Wrong.

I can see some ppl have had better experiences but ice cold from me.

As mentioned earlier I bought some flat blades but from Ebay. Prior to these I have had Bosch but last time I put the new Bosch blades on they squeaked and I thought they were expensive..... so this time I thought I would give these flat ones a go. The ones I got won't have paint peeling off because they are plastic though this gave them a cheap feel compared to the Bosch BUT yesterday when it rained there was no noise at all from the new flat blades and my screen was the clearest that I can remember it being. Time will tell if the plastic joint will hold and if they remain squeak free.... but I guess what I am saying is don't rule out flat blades because of the negative feedback on the Tesco ones.
#35
Just thought that I should mention that these blades are still marked up as £6 in my local store but do go through the till as £3. I bought some today for my car so time will tell whether this was a good deal or not - let's face it though, I've not exactly lost a fortune if they don't last ...........

UPDATE - these are horrid. The connection is far too large and looks ugly and the blades are rubbish. Wouldn't recommend even for £3!!!!

Shambolic

yup exactly same problem here with paint falling off and rusting away
#37
I had a look at these yesterday and they look fine apart from the fact that the spoilers on them look the wrong way round for RHD cars. Is this the case? Someone else mentioned it in a previous thread.
#38
The arm connection point on these is hideous.

Actually, good point, I should have said they look ok for the money, but not really that great. Connection point looks like a big block of LEGO.

Just had a look, and the backs don't say which cars they fit on - so I bought one of each size! Turns out, my car needs a 19" and a 26" blade - has anyone even seen a 26" blade at their local Tesco?

Do you think a smaller blade would do instead?
