pmsl:giggle::giggle: energy saving 3 way ..means you can plug in more to one socket how can that be green ???

I got one of these a while back. Have my PC connected to the master and TFT and amplifier connected to the two slaves. When I put the computer (Dell 5150) into standby (S3 - suspend to RAM) it turns off the power to the TFT and amplifier. So, I can turn the PC and the two peripherals off with a single button press and turn them all back on again with a single button press and have the computer usable within about 10 seconds. The Dell uses between 1 and 2 watts when in S3 standby - I haven't been able to see how much the energy saver itself uses but I would guess that it would be quite a small amount..

i got one of these for my pc, stereo and monitor... it means that when i turn my pc off there is no power going to the monitor or stereo, so no annoying LEDS. excellent. I'm liking that!

Ignoring the 4 first letters of your post...which suggest that either you think you're uproariously funny ( you're not ! ) or that you're admitting to an incontinence problem ( much the more likely I'd guess.... ) what's wrong with having 3 sockets in one ?

It simply means you can gain the benfit of reducing power consumption with 3 electrical items in one socket, rather than have 3 separate plugs. Do you REALLY not understand that, if so then perhaps it's all the bodily fluids you're losing which are dehydrating the reasoning part of your brain?

You berated the guy beautifully, but you don't seem to get the physics behind electricity, but I forgive you!

"Intelligent 3 way adaptor monitors the main socket and turns off or on the devices plugged into the other two sockets. Features surge protection"

Here is a link to the product http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.203-0448.aspx and the other comments might give you a clue as to how it works, however the site does suggest that you shouldn't use it with desktops/laptops... presumably in the axillary sockets.

A great price! It'll save this many times over during the course of its lifetime.
IFWIW, went to an event the other day and the Energy Saving Trust were there and they were giving Eon branded versions of this device away FREE, if you filled in an energy saving survey. Worth looking out for.
Having said that, the Tesco one is really a no brainer at the price they are charging.

These have been on the go at this price for quite some time now.

I bought a couple as the PC idea sounded good, however if I remember correctly the small print says not to use for PC's....will need to double check as between houses at moment so cant lay hands on

Why was it marked as expired?
Direct does not always have the same prices as in store.

thank you for highlighting the missing word [U]Intelligent

jus seeing how quick ppl were to jump on that one the correct wording would have been power downs but since they werer brought out by EDF you can use that name
***a normal 3way is not green *** just by plugging 3 plugs in together does not make it less so if i put 3 pound coins together would it be less ???

Hmmm, don't remember reading that on the packaging - I do see that the recommendation is now on the website. I'm not sure why they don't recommend it. Obviously, if you were to plug the computer into a slave then that would be a pretty bad idea as it would turn the PC off immediately with all the fun that that can cause on a Windows machine.

Mine's been runnning fine for about a month now. Anyone know if there is any other reason not to run a desktop from them? I suppose I could ring Tesco but anticipating being put on hold for ages and ending up with a totally daft reason or sorry we have no idea.

Edit: I've just emailed them and will post the reply here if I get one.

Packaging says "May not be compatible with all desktop computer systems with a power supply over 190 watts".

It won't go bang it just might not work as intended.

Offer is still available in store nationwide (where stocked). Have reported to mods to get expired removed!

works great with xbox 360 and wii where the power bricks are left on 24hrs only prob is if you downloading then plug into somewhere else
otherwise its great on consoles ..with pc it doesnt always detect shutdown correctly so printers n stuff sometimes get left on but they do go off after a short time

bought two of these in Tesco St Helens this week at £2.44. Ive plugged 2 extension leads which hold my wii, xbox, PS3, cable box, DVD player, amp and cable adaptor into the 2 slave ports of the plug, and the tv into the master.

When i turn off the tv it turns all the other units off (i.e. fully off, not just standby), so without getting my calc out it should be saving a decent amount of standby power consumption of 7 units every night.

£2.44 - bargain. voted hot. :-D

I've just returned from Tesco Extra in Westcliff (Southend) and they still have a couple of trays of these on the shelf after I bagged myself some. There's no price on the shelf as far as I can see, but they scan at £2.44. Great find.

Still have some at Tesco Chichester, picked up 2 today.

Hot from me too, just took the last two from Beaumont shopping center, Leicester. No price on shell but scanned at £2.44, definitely worth buying at that price.
