£5.00 @ Tesco
Stock up for Christmas, looks like a bargain to me, nice to see it without the BOGOF, sometimes one tin is enough!

They have actually been without the BOGOF for about 3 weeks now. I think it's Sainsbury's that still have them at £10 BOGOF. I imagine people will be getting loads of these tins this Christmas, lol. The supermarkets are going crazy for them this year.

morrisons have them at £3.99

I think they're back up in Morrisons - well from reading the Buy 1 Get 2 Free deal, then the guy seems to say it's now store dependent if they have enough stock to sell them for £3.99. But all the supermarkets are going to be getting in on the act with these, so much of a muchness about it I think.

Yeah I agree - I feel sorry for anyone who has. I mean I fail to see how Cadbury's etc put a RRP of £10 on these, when they are clearly getting less and less in them every year.

2 for £7 at asda

That has now finished too I think. (Unless they're doing it again) They're now £5 each in Asda too.

fair enough. £5 is about the right normal price imo so its just a con to state £5 half price!

Tesco seem to have avoided it being an official 'con' by selling these first time at £10 - but BOGOF!

They could then argue that they have previously sold them at £10.

Hence they become 'half-price' at £5.

Tesco seem to be doing a similar thing with some wines. One which was £3.99 went up to £8.99 so 'Half-Price' becomes £4.49, an actual increase of 50p.

More and more the company seem to be underestimating the intelligence of shoppers, which is a dangerous thing. If people see they are being manipulated once, they'll become suspicious and the company will begin to lose their trust, which is a very difficult thing to restore.

Every supermarket does this - not just Tesco. I think it's unfair to label one particular company with the blame, so I'll give a few more examples to balance it out. These tins are currently £10 BOGOF in Sainsbury's - which is even worse. If you look at nearly all Asda's rollback adverts in the newspapers - they always say "Higher price charged for 7 days previously" - so they've put it up in price to re-advertise it.

I think in the case with these tins though and the rest - if you can advertise them as Half Price, then you're going to aren't you? If I owned a shop I would. The law clearly lets them do it.

I realise that the practise is a common one, and I'm sure most of us are wary of that. It just appeared that lately Tesco seem to be doing it more than most and I've overheard several people say that 'they're becoming expensive'.
