I have been very pleased with my HUDL, but I have just found out the case is sealed so the battery (the weakest link) cant be replaced, perhaps this is normal for tablets and we are just supposed to buy a new one when the battery fails !!!
#5
Any idea when Hudl2 is due? Otherwise I'm gonna grab this with Clubcard. Boost vouchers...

I just went & bought 4 of them @ £59 each on the eBay outlet...
Could've got this for "free" via the club card boost, aw well...
#7
Just worked out the maths on this - refurbished @ £59x4 = £236, brand new £99x4 = £396 - boost points = £100 points = £0.
Erm, so if I have £100 in club card points I could get 4 brand new Hudls? Am I wrong here? oO

the boost is double not x4. so you could have got 2

gmc1710 - it's designed using plastic clips to secure the case, I wouldn't say it's "sealed", certainly not in the iphone kind of way. See here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5ybC8Lw5XE & generic here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZeFFGKyopU
I would say the weakest link is the screen - try finding a replacement if that gets smashed! Digitizers are easy enough to find, however the actual LCD at that resolution is not an easy find!
Replacement batteries on the other hand can be found very easily...

Clubcard points neither given nor accepted on Tesco ebay outlet. I checked.
#11
I know that - however if they are available in store @ 4 for £100 in club card points I reckon I may be buying another 4!
#12
do you think these will get any cheaper before Xmas at all ?
#13
you can only buy 2 with £100 vouchers!

It took them a year to drop twenty quid... They are available as a refurb item on their outlet store (Ebay) for £59, I think you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference, certainly with the ones I got (they didn't have that screen label or fancy fan out guide), once removed from the packaging they looked new to me!
#15
Who knows re a further price drop - probably depends on stock levels and when the rumored hudl2 is ready. What may happen (and often does elsewhere) is if there's a lot left they'll end up on ebay etc as refurbs / open box etc for the £60 price even though there brand new.

Thanks

cascadaskyla2014 - thanks for working that out - I thought £100 vouchers for 4 was too good to be true! :D

Better price! I won't be buying anymore Tesco Hudl products, after my 6 months of screen freezes! 8)

no its £200 it's double points.
I know it's very confusing but 4 X amount on vouchers is only on days out

Would buy this but already brought the Lenovo S5000 :( Is this better than that?
#21
Cant see any refurb units on their Ebay for £59 anymore, just £64.
I'd probably personally still go for the older Nexus 7 at ~£99, but if you have club card points this is a good deal indeed.
#22
Hudl 2 early mid November... Just a guess but you'll see lots of new tech and tech deals around this time... Around 3 months time
#23
According in PC advisor Hudl 2 confirmed by Tesco in September. But hold on to October/Nov for next Nexus!

The thing with technology and ppl debating weather to wait a few months for a better model or price is the fact that tech moves so fast these days that you could end up in a continuous cycle of waiting...or buying then finding a better deal a month later and feeling like you've paid over the odds.

Should be by end of September

I think it's far more worth it getting the Asus MemoPad HD7 which is now a standard price of £99.99 in Argos and the like.

Exactly. Sometimes you just have to bit the bullet and jump in otherwise you are just on the sidelines.

I can't believe people are quibbling of a cheap nasty android tablet.

Terrible tablet, I had 3 replaced in 3 months (1 I had for less than 6 hours) before getting a refund.

aLV426- Thanks for the info its very good. Here is the reason for my comment:- tech.uk.msn.com/tablets/tesco-hudl-review-1
11 Oct 2013 ... The Tesco Hudl is the first ever tablet from the UK retail giant. ... The back is completely sealed, so you cannot replace the battery; not that you'll ...

Not a great tablet regards reliability. I know a friend who got through 3 of these. Each time Tesco replaced but still not the point.

the touch screen issue was fixed with a recent update, well worth the £60 each we paid for ours
#36
I have heard its a bit laggy. The comments regarding several replacements are not surprising. My old Nexus 7 is still ok. Its not fast but does the job

Ours is hellishly laggy. I find it unusable, but its ok for movies for the kids. No way is it worth £100

My son has had problems with his hudl with the charging socket becoming loose. His replacement did the same. Google it and you'll see that this is a very common issue. If I'd known at the time I wouldn't have bought it for him but then again I did bet it for free with Clubcard vouchers.

Its a great hudl we have 3 in the house and they all work perfect , ive had an ipad and samsung tablet and the hudl is just as good for the price its fantastic , I havent found it laggy at all and its got expandable memory
