Parsnips would make a good soup which could be frozen into portion size chunks

was searching all over from Christmas eve eve to late Christmas eve for parsnips, couldn't even get my ands on frozen ones :/ My dad eventually found some on the veg stall in the city centre, I love parsnips, I use them as a potato "substitute" as I cant have potato.

Potatoes 5p in Strood store. 2.5kg bags, a choice of Desiree or Maris Piper.
Brussels are 10p a bag, as are bags of parsnips, and broccoli. Well worth buying and making soup or such like.
#20
parsnips & sprouts 1p for a 500g bag in Tesco Extra Eastville (Bristol) today :)
#21
If you ask nicely you can have all of my left over veg free of charge, the dog only seems to eat the left over meat anyway.
#22
We got two bags of sprouts for 5p each.... at our local tesco

Isn't a torture to even look at these veg now? No matter how cheap they are?!
But, here is a fresh idea!
You can make a fantastic curry with these veg that really ignites your dull taste buds after the Christmas meals:

Simple, fresh and healthy for the NEW YEAR! ;)

What else you need:
Onions, fresh green or red chilies, fresh coriander leaves, freshly ground garlic/ginger paste, turmeric and if you dare, red chili powder, cumin and mustard seeds (jeera and rayee)

Of course, sunflower oil and a bit of salt to taste

What to do:

Heat oil, add cumin and mustard seeds to pop for a few secs, then add cut chillies, onion and fry for a few more mins
Add garlic ginger paste and turmeric to fry for a couple of mins.

Add the sliced variety of veggies and keep cooking for over ten to fifteen mins (until cooked)
Add salt and chili powder to taste as per your hot ratings!

Great deal if you can get them in your local store. Not on special offer in the Twickenham Extra store this afternoon. 2.5kg Maris Pipers were still full price. The Christmas deal 1kg carrots and potatoes were still 49p. I didn't check the parsnips or Brussels.
