They use the o2 network. Even says o2 as the network provider on the phone itself, unless you update the firmware on some phones (specifically iphone) so that it shows Tesco instead.

I have been using this for a while - rest of the family have also got them. A good reminder of this deal - thanks
#7
I have this sim also. Very good value.

Can anyone confirm what the data limit is on this deal? It says unlimited but last time it was posted a lot of people said it was 500Mb.

Yeah I have this sim, its 500Mb

This is a staggeringly good price. If I wasn't already on a contract and getting loyalty dicounts with orange I'd be jumping right on this. HEAT

Good value, but I find download speed is not as fast as T-Mobile. Also, if you cancel (or give notice to cancel) within the first 28 days, they will treat the SIM as a pay-as-you-go (i.e. they will charge for usage). This can be a quite a bit since they charge £4/Mb for data.
#12
for unlimited texts,read 3000 (capped)

and as above, unlimited internet read 500mb

i have this deal and it rocks! ;)
#13
Just beware that unlimited internet is in fact limited at 500MB which you will easily go over if you use your phone for emails or lots of downloads or online activities.
#14
Is it possible to get this and limit the account so that my son will not spend over what he's allowed?
#15
Only downside is the cost if you go over 500mb, they will bill you, and hard.

They "limit" monthly spend to £30, but there's a delay of supposedly 6 hours before that kicks in, so you could go easily go way over the limit and rack up a giant bill. Probably you could kick up a huge fuss about the limit not working, and the "unlimited" being no such thing, and quite probably get away with it (eg threaten them with Watchdog/newspapers/etc).

You can see how many minutes/txts/megabytes you've used online (also delayed, and seemingly by more than 6 hours).

They made a total titsup of my number transfer btw, I couldn't receive calls for 5 days.

There was a post made by somebody yesterday that the T-Mobile deal for 600 mins, 500 texts, 3Gb internet and free booster. In which case this deal, although not bad itself, pales in comparison.

You also do not get charged if you go over the data usage like tesco £4 a meg - they just send you a message (not that 3gb would be easily reached).

Someone at tesco also told me that they use a cut down version of o2 and is not as fast.

T-mobile also use orange if t-mobile drops in signal.

And yes I have the t-mobile deal and has been no trouble - great customer service.

I managed to get it for £7.50 but would still be worth it at £10 - even for peace of mind that you'll never get charged loads for going over the usage.

Got this for £6.75 a month on staff discount,no problems so far.

I took this the last time the deal was on and the staff discount was pulled in between upgrading my phone and getting the sim! Is it back on this occasion? Just wondering if worth trying to get the staff discount applied. Ta.
#32
just a heads up this deal finishes at the end of November as i just ordered the sim tonight myself

jezzery

Someone at tesco also told me that they use a cut down version of o2 and is not as fast.

Don't think so - I get 3mbit on speedtesters (and that may just be all my phone can handle).

#35
Has anyone used Blackberry email on this tariff??
#36
Are the minutes for anytime any network and does it include landline numbers? Also is the coverage decent, I just purchased an orange month rolling contract which has the same text,minutes(anytime/network) 500mb Internet but it's costing me £20 per month so I'm considering moving over to this.
#37
