This could get really hot. Perfect for me. However, as usual, tesco unlimited data means 500MB. If you go over, you will be charged £4 for every mega byte.

I have checked my tesco sim only online account and it is showing I have used 420mb already for this month (until new allowance date 08 Oct) . So if you use iphone, there is a big risk of going over the 500MB data limit. It is NOT enough for even checking emails, browsing internet (even without downloading big file) and using the apps because all modern smart phones are data hungry.

Not really unlimited data - if there is a maximum!!

Seems like a misell to me.

Still a Hot deal.

what does 250mb equate to please ( ie .. approx how many minutes a month surfing net )
#6
From Tesco website.
"If your tariff includes unlimited calls, texts, web & data, a fair use policy will apply, monthly data allowance 500MB."
On MSE, they were quoting 3000 texts was Tesco's fair usage.

Why does it say 750 minutes? Surely this is "unlimited" minutes under Tesco's definitions if 0.5GB data is classed as "unlimited".
#8
Does not include MMS messages in the inclusive texts & minutes. Got this for the wife's iphone and after the first month discovered we were being charged for MMS at 25p per message. Contacted Tesco who confirmed MMS not included, they refunded the 1st months MMS usage and explained that any further MMS would be charged.

FYI Wife's Iphone 3Gs was locked to O2 but the Tesco SIM works in it no problem. Probably due to the fact that Tesco's signal 'piggybacks' the O2 one.

Unlimited mean unlimited. 500mb means 500mb. I smell a rat. I believe OFCOM or whoever regulates these monkeys must now force these people to promote the correct marketing material!

The 500 mins for £10 ( the rest is as the above) has until Friday to run. To be honest I find this better as I'd never use this amount of calls. The unlimited internet is fine for push email and about an hour of web browsing a day. It is not any use to stream or down load audio.
I don't use the MMS as you can send pics via emal which is in the 500mb
One thing to note is that TESCO do not allow call forwarding, which means you have to pay for voice mail. O2 and other contacts allow call forwarding/visual voice mail which can be used for Hullomail which is brilliant. In fact Hullomail should be posted here as a hot deal. It is free you can pick up your voice mail at standard rates (i.e. within your 750 mins or whatever) you can also send you voice mail as an attachment to e mails.

I really fancy this deal, but would need to find a decent smart phone (android preferably) to go with it. Anybody know any good deals to get one? I'm assuming I need an unlocked phone or an O2 or Tesco phone?

Mobile phone company marketers - common crooks and criminals.
It is beyond me as to how they all get away with this "unlimited" CON. It's there as plain as day: "UNLIMITED data" and a few lines down "Monthly data allowance 500Mb". Which, by the way, is megabits. OfCom will be getting contacted shortly.

Idiots; scoundrels; scum.

It's not the same deal, this one has more minutes.

apparently virgin round of calls to the nearest full minute regardless of the length of a call.. speak for just 5 seconds & still get a full minuite deducted from your bundle!

if you want a cheap android look out for the T Mobile pulse when it is on offer been down to £74 ! Great phone, ok its no HTC etc but a fraction of the price. Up garde to Android 2.1 and unlock ($20) and you have a bargain phone that can use this deal

My OH bought a PAYG iPhone 3GS on Tesco Mobile in January.

Can he go onto this tariff with his phone?

Be aware, although they claim its a 30 day contract, you will not be able to cancel after just one month. This company are terrible, you need to provide a months notice to cancel, and you cannot cancel before the end of the first month.

In short, i'd never use Tesco Mobile again. Their customer services is terrible, useless. They made endless promises of refund with absoluately no follow through.

Use them at your own risk.

The day you phoned they must have been in a good mood. I've been with Virgin for years, did the same as you, they said couldn't match the deal and so I've ended up with a pac code, better decide if I'm going to use it or not. The phone sales people in the tesco I went to (clifton moor) were very vague with any answers to my questions about if mms were included, if voicemail was part of minutes (he said it was, but someone posting on here states it isn't).

Unless Tesco give me a list stating what's included and answer my questions they can naff off!oO

Yes have to agree. Wife had a nightmare getting some money back off of them when they took out 2 lots of money for a p.a.y.g.
would not touch them again.
Amazing how they can say unlimited when there is a limit.
JUST SAY 750 MINS,3000TXT AND 500MB DATA

I have an HTC Desire on Vodafone, and I wouldn't describe myself as a heavy data user. My contract period runs to midnight of the 3rd of each month - so it's about to click over tonight.
According to 3G Watchdog, my usage for his month is 620MB.
If that was on this deal, I'd be looking at having to pay for the excess 120MB over the 500MB.
i.e - Tesco would charge me £480 for something they opening advertise as "unlimited".

How anyone can call something like that deal is quite beyond me.

This blatant p1ss taking seriously needs to be stopped

As far as I know, Giffgaff is the only network where unlimited really does mean unlimited (applies to data and texts on their appropriate tariffs).

Yes, the Big Companies are redefining the English dictionary and the law
* Unlimited is redefined as having limited meaning.
* Free is redefined as having a price to pay.
* Eat-as-much-as-you-like is redefined as limited amounts
* infinite is redefined as finite ....
very soon if they away with it .........then they will push destroy a lot of English words
* 5 year loan is redefined as 20 year loan in small print
* 0% interest rate is redefined as not zero
* 100% safe is redefined as can be dangerous
* healthy is redefined as unhealthy when it is too healthy
* virus free is redefined as that you can have some virus
* secured access is redefined as insecure at time
* allergy free is redefined as being with traces of allergy agents ... and so on
#32
Unlimited is rarely unlimited as fair use policies usually kick in with most ISP/Networks.

If you acknowledge unlimited =500MB, and that's more than enough for many people, then this is great deal although it's been on this site elsewhere since it was launched at the end of August so it;s not really hot news.

Surely a smart phone will use more than 500MB a month though. On my little Nokia E63 I use close to 1GB a month and that is mainly just looking at websites such as BBC news, football updates and this site.
#35
Heck, I tethered my phone to my laptop while on holiday last week and used 1.2Gb over 3 days! That would be a scary Tesco bill to come home to!! Luckily T-Mob give me a 3Gb allowance and just send a letter if you are taking the p**s and using too much.

Indeedy - stating the other variations, however this does not sell the fact that MMS / Video calls are free so probably better(?)

As other member pointed it out, £4 per megabyte could cost you a fortune especially when you have any smart phones.

some people are still managing to get the deal i posted a few weeks ago which is better in my opinion:
