Picked up a brochure as I passed the Phone Shop in Tesco. Good deal, do you think, for those whose needs are satisfied by those allowances, and who want an MVNO that uses the O2 network with 4G included? 12 month tariff. Searched for "Tesco mobile 7.50" before posting this deal, so apols if it's a dupe.

1.5gb of 4G data, 250minutes, 5000 texts for £5 a month on a 30 day contract - MVNO using the 3 network

https://talkmobile.co.uk/shop/sim-only

2gb of Data, 1000minutes, 5000 texts for £7.50 on the same 12month sort of deal - MVNO using Vodafone network

Therefore, not seeing this as much of a deal personally.

Tried ID mobile, and would not return to them. Not a happy experience.

Talkmobile, well, not tried them myself, but I've read much feedback that wasn't positive.

Thanks for taking the time to offer informed opinion, Astec, and not just voting cold without commenting.

You'll be pleased to know that I haven't voted then at all, I only vote either hot or when a deal is entirely a non deal to dissuade people taking it up in haste. iD I will agree their CS is hit and miss but for the price saving £2.50 a month and overall £30 a year for what will be a couple of calls, I consider it an acceptable compromise. I would also say they have one of the better apps for monitoring usage of all the network providers.

Networks are one of those things that you have to consider all of the options and there is no universal best network.

- quality of service where you live/work/tend to be
- customer service experience when you need to make contact (and how much extra you want to pay for it to be better)
- Overall price

For me bottom line price and total allowances always wins out as I only ever tend to deal with the networks staff when I transfer my number at the start and then again when I get my PAC out. Some people I know do seem to end up calling their providers on a near monthly basis so if you are one of those high maintenance customers then iD and Talkmobile aren't likely for you. If you are one of these people who doesn't find a reason to complain or need support all the time then both represent better value propositions.

So do 1000s of other companies. I take reviews these days with a very large pinch of salt. I can't speak of talk mobile as I've never used them (I have used just about all the others so far though). Reviews only get any credence for me when I can see that a user has no vested interest in offering their review such as places like HUKD where you can easily check out the history of the person leaving the review. The number of paid good and bad reviews came recently to the fore and it's worth considering how accurate a site like trustpilot is considering how easy these things are to manipulate.

Few of things on this deal, it's a good deal on the o2 network, if you live in an area like we do where EE is supposed to have very good coverage but doesn't and three is hit and miss then o2 is the best there is, problem is on o2 you have expensive o2, quite expensive Tesoro and waste of time giff gaff with their awful speeds but expectations of mid prices. Giffgaff managing director recently said his company profits help o2 expand their network but until they offer reasonable speeds then the only option is o2 or tesco. Giffgaff speeds are around 2Mb on 4g where as tesco is 25Mb.

So yes this is a great deal if you need to be on o2 however the problem here is that it's a 12 month deal, and in a couple of months Sky Mobile launches on the o2 network and this will hopefully shake things up price wise.

Yes, true, though not everyone, it seems, can tolerate the ads. Thanks for the reminder.

For those can put up with ads, it makes it £4.50 for 1GB + 250 + 5000, which is pretty good!
